and I have a couple of questions. Tank came off of a gs1100 and is going on my cb450. I like the looks of the tank and mounting it will be easy. first question is, what is the best way for getting a key for the gas cap? locksmith? can the local dealer cut me one? second question, getting rid of the vacuum petcock? is the one from Mike's XS any good or do I just need to pony up for the pingel?
Is the gas cap locked in the tank? or do you just need to replace the cylinder? There are a couple of different ways to go about it listed up on the GS resources board. Depnding on which cap it is I have a cap and key I am getting ready to discard. I may be able to help you out.
Post up a pic of the cap, If it matches I can probably hook you up cheaply.

I went to a local locksmith to have a key made for the gas cap on the RD400 tank I aquired.
Ten minutes and $10 later I had two keys and a functioning gas cap again.
I have the orgional rectangle cap for that tank. The one that kind of follows the lines of the discoloration on the tank. If I can find the key fr it I can send that Chome/ brushed cap and key if you need it. Let me know. If you look on the GS resources there is a posting for popping out the cylinder from the top. If you wanted to keep te rund cap you could swap out te cylinders.
I'm with Redbird. It may be more trouble than it's worth if you have a decent locksmith close.
