Brake Master Cylinder Rebuild Help

Hello gentlemen,

I'm in the process of rebuilding my MC and I'm having trouble with the circlip (the one under the outer rubber boot) that holds the piston in. Are there any tricks to get it out?

Thanks PJ!

I actually found some correct sized pliers at Partsnmore for $9.00. The only thing is that the minimum order requirement is $35, so it looks like I'll be ordering some mini speedo/tachos from them.

I just rebuilt a CB master cylinder 2 nights ago. First I used a pick to loosen the C clip since they get rusty and corroded at the same time. Then i couldnt find my clip remover so i used an old hair cutting sissor. Just bent the tips a bit so the clip would stay on. Worked strangly well.
Heres a kinda related find. After cleaning up all the gunk off the parts i made a tool that holds the piston assembly along with both tapered seals so it they can be slid back into the cylinder while retaining your sanity. I found a three inch piece of common 1/2 inch copper waterpipe, deburred it, lightly polished the inside. Just push the piston assembly into the tube and then push the whole works back into the master cylinder cylinder with a small deepwell socket. TA DA!

Thanks for the advice!

I actually ordered a set of master cylinder circlip pliers from MikesXs. It was only $10 and you don't have to have a minimum order. I also threw in a cable luber in my cart.
