Brat Style Seat

Anyone have experience or pictures of how to go about welding in a rear hoop, rear fender and a flat bratstyle seat pan? I've seen a few examples on here of how to do the hoop, but I'd like to see a little bit detail on the seat pan, etc.

Hey man...click on my build thread in my signature. I welded a rear hoop that I bent up. I did a seat pan. I simply got the measurements that I needed for a pan and then laser cut a blank (helps to work in a sheetmetal fab shop). I then rolled the blank to get a slight curve to match the frame and finally press-fit some threaded inserts so that it would locate on the frame into some holes I drilled.

I used the original rear fender support for my hoop. Then I just matched the shape of the frame tubes with a sheet of 16g steel. There are more pics in my build.

Hi there... I am a first time builder finally getting around to my cafe racer I have always wanted. I was super unsure of where/what to cut, but think I did allright. My seat is obviously not a brat style, but the hoop will probably work for you. Its a 72 CB500 that I picked up 3 weeks ago for $300...

First the lines I tentatively decided on cutting...

made a tab to fit under the tank, i have 2 more tabs that will bolt to the side of the seat and to the frame rails to pull it nice and tight to follow the lines the bike has naturally, but that needs to be added later

I think I just drooled on my keyboard...

Wow, crazy nice work. Thanks for the writeup!

Someone's gonna pull that cover off in 10 years, find the t-shirt and say WTF?
