Good video. The only issue I have with it is that flat track dirt track racing was specifically an American thing ... not British. The British version of a flat track race was done on a single very long very wide track with pitched corners.

Oh well. Still a good video though.

Thanks for the context Miss Allie Kat. I wasn't going to wade in there. Was all about the bikes and the general verve, for me. I mean the thing was all shot in SoCal for Pete's sake. I'm from just outside Southampton. My old boy used to go to the scrambles, mix with the Teds and dodge hedges coming home on his Nortons and Velocettes. Sins of the father, what? Guess they get visited on tear-away daughters as well.

That was cool. When I was little younger we used to go to the scrambles, at a time when the Brit iron was still competitive with the new jap and euro machines. Back in New Zealand we had the best influences of British and American racing styles, speedway and to a lesser degree flat track, along with scrambles. Motorcycles tended to be British , I had Triumph and BSA back then, but the Japanese gradually started to dominate, so I fell victim to a Suzuki trail bike in 1971. While I was in London this summer I made a special trip out to the North circular rd to visit the Ace, pick up the obligatory Tshirt and decal etc. John

The Brits do grass track. The American Speedway or flat track racing used Brit Twins and American V-Twins.
Theese guys are in my side of town. Bunch of cool kats.
