I love the Brown Seat/ Brown Grip look, however I'm afraid its a fad. Im afraid next year I'm gonna be sick of it.

Have to call the upholstery shop tomorrow and tell them black or brown. hmmm black is classic.

Thoughts?

My thoughts would be go with your vision. If it suits the bike, then it ain't a fad, it is art. I do however totally get your angst. For me its like numberplates. On some bikes they look cool as sh!t, on others they make it look like it is trying too hard.

The reality is, grips are cheap, and if you can't stand the seat later, have it reupholstered. The hard part will already be done (shaping, etc).

Brown if it fits your build.

True that. Also who gives a shit what other people think if you love your bike. The fad bullshit is for people jumping on the bandwagon who just want to be trendy. Build it for you.

Agree completely, if it appeals to you man dont worry and like Scrap said, Grips are easy, hell mine never last 6mnths, much less a year and the seat is only noticable when your butts not on it :D

Build the bike YOU like. I'm planning on doing brown seat and grips on my next project, so you will not be the only one riding with that color.

i really like the brown seat and grips look. i would have done it but my bike wouldnet let me ;D. i kept trying to build it my way, and the little cb360 just kept telling me i was dumb and it needed to be built the way it wanted. lol my original vision for my bike was british racing green with a headlight visor and brown seat and grips. man that sure didnt happen.. oh well

1975 Honda CB550F stock seat color was brown, with a blue metallic tank/side covers. Grips were black as they likely didn't do much brown rubber back then.

Here's mine, but with the 1976 Sunrise Orange paint. It has the brown seat on it, which I scored NOS for $40. Sold the bike a few years back.

You know what? I'll do one up with a brown seat and grips too. I like that "Tarantula" bike with the white tank.

I was going to go with a brown seat but ended up going black. I will say this. If you can afford leather I would go with the brown bomber leather looks awesome. If you cannot go with black vinyl brown vinyl looks cheap like you wanted leather but couldn't afford it. But brown leather will never go out of style

IMHO there are very few bikes that look good with brown seats. Brown grips are a fad, but who cares. They get replaced every couple of years at the latest and are so cheap they can always be replaced.

Lot's of good points, thanks guys. I'm gonna go with the brown as its what I have been seeing in my gigantic head.

legendary_rider, my plan is a white tank and rear also.

There's another build on here that's doing the same thing replicating the "Tarantula" with brown leather/white paint. Looks pretty sharp. Check it out.

Choose the color which makes your bike faster and handle better....
