BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art - Voting time!

Been Around the Block
I just rediscovered this forum today and thought I'd share a project of mine that's nearing completion.

The entire bike was built in the backyard with no fancy tools, rattle can paint, and at VERY minimal cost in under 3 months. It hasn't been built for the road, but for a chuckle, to see what can be done with a little $ and a lot of creativity. It had it's first outing a couple of weekends ago at Chopped Rod n Custom where it was great fun to ride around up until we snapped the chain on the dirt drag strip.

Anyway, let the photos do the talking!

The $20 Bantam frame and Yamaha XT250 which form the basis of the build

I don't want to put up finished images until after this weekend as I am heading to a couple of big events over the next couple of weeks, but here's a couple of teasers without giving too much away:

And the reason for the thread title :)

Re: BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art

Very cool, love it , im sure the xt 250 motor is the same as the SRX250 motor, they go like stink with a bit of tunning. got any video of it anywhere ?

Re: BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art

No video unfortunately, shot some of the drag race but didn't have enough zoom to be too visible. You can see it lining up for the race here though at about the 1 minute mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jh2BtJQPh6w

Re: BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art

What a hoot! Reminds me of the time when I put a Honda motor in a HD Hummer frame - 40-some years ago LOL!

Re: BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art

This is a thread full of awesomeness. Very cool lil build there bub!

Re: BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art

How's the riding position? Looks like it might be a bit uncomfy for more than short trips?

Re: BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art

Thanks guys. Riding position is surprisingly comfy. When I first set up the bike I made a rearset for it as I thought my knees would be in my chin if I had traditional controls due to how low the whole thing is, but after finishing the seat I went back and removed the rearset and reconfigured traditionally placed controls, as even at 6'2" the upright riding position on this is quite comfortable, not too much weight on the bars, legs at a reasonable angle. It was never intended to be ridden all day but I'd say it's more comfortable than many bobbers

Re: BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art

Tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn we will be hitting the road for Sydney (a 10 hour drive) to showcase our BSA Bull Sh!t Art Bantam at the Deus Ex Machina Boundless Enthusiasm Biker Buildoff on Saturday.

It should be a great day and we can't wait to see what everyone else has built within the rules of minimal cost and maximum creativity. We are extremely proud of our effort with the BSA, having built the entire thing on the back deck, from frame modifications right through to custom brake cables, so if we make it into the top 5 bikes on the day we would love you to vote for us in the international people's choice http://bikebuildoff.com/

No details are available on how the voting works yet but we will keep you informed on Saturday if we can. For anyone else making the trip we look forward to seeing you there!

Re: BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art

Damn... how much is a plane ticket from the USA to Australia these days? I want to ride that.

Re: BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art

WE MADE THE TOP 5!

Absolutely blown away at the moment, but very proud to announce that we made the top 5 in the Australian part of the event! This means that we are in the running for the international people's choice, as well as the recipients of a very cool trophy and come cool merch.

Thanks to Deus for putting on the event, I will add photos once I am home and on a decent internet connection.

Re: BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art

Congratulations D-D!

Plenty of competition there today, so getting in the top five is quite an achievement.

Crazy

Re: BSA Bantam Bull Sh!t Art

Got to be the most inspiring bantam plunger build I have ever seen! Nice one :)
