Been Around the Block
I just rediscovered this forum today and thought I'd share a project of mine that's nearing completion.
The entire bike was built in the backyard with no fancy tools, rattle can paint, and at VERY minimal cost in under 3 months. It hasn't been built for the road, but for a chuckle, to see what can be done with a little $ and a lot of creativity. It had it's first outing a couple of weekends ago at Chopped Rod n Custom where it was great fun to ride around up until we snapped the chain on the dirt drag strip.
Anyway, let the photos do the talking!
The $20 Bantam frame and Yamaha XT250 which form the basis of the build
Bantam D1 tank and XT250 back wheel fitted (front forks and wheel from unknown source modified to suit at front)
Exhaust mocked up
Seat in progress
Controls
Paint
Seat trimming hand stitched from old leather jacket
Assembly
At Chopped
I don't want to put up finished images until after this weekend as I am heading to a couple of big events over the next couple of weeks, but here's a couple of teasers without giving too much away:
And the reason for the thread title
