C Clamp Chain Breaker

Personally I'd just front up the $20 or so for a proper chaonbreaker. Check the Xr build in my sig for a few shots of me using mine. Dead easy.

Yo dude flat head and a hammer just be gentle . chain brakers are for pussy's ;D Just keep track of what way the chains clamp is going when you put it back on . there should be some vids on you tube

I agree, pony up the 20 bucks. I just did this yesterday on my friends 71' CB350. Hammer and flathead will take care of the clip. I'm assuming you are shortening the chain for a smaller Rear sprocket? That's why I had to remove 2 links for him. SUPER easy with the tool.

There are two ways to go about installing a chain. I would argue that one's easier, and one's better. Easier is with a retaining clip style master link which seems to be all that most folks who have so far responded are aware of, you don't need a chain breaker/press to install one of those. The better way (some might reasonably argue the ovekill way) is to use a riveted master link. With those you need a tool to open up the rivet heads fastening the link (factory service manuals will always follow this method) this also takes just a little skill because you don't want to crank it down too much and bind the link up.

I'd say, that if you don't want to buy the tool, go with a clip link. If you care to rivet it, buy the proper tool, you're just begging for frustration if you don't.

Thanks everyone, I was going to find another way to put it on ( some would say ridged) but I just asked around and one of my friends just happened to have a chain breaker. So that worked out great. ;D Thanks Again!!
