CA95 rescue

Hey Rich, nice bike! Todd from Kenosha here. I work in North Chicago so if you ever need an extra pair of hands give me a shout! Oh and call me first if you do sell it ;D

I might need to bring the motor around.

Notes from todays dismantling... Dont drop shit into the cam chain shaft.. like the circlip or master link of the cam chain.

fuck.

looks like I need an extractor for the dynamo innerds to get at the rest of the cam chain and hopefully find the parts that shot off like a rocket.

At least I found all the parts that I need to line up and feel comfortable about that.

Shoot - that might mean splitting the cases. The CA95 engine doesn't have a nice big 'pan' to drop off the bottom. Just a small 3/4" or so oil drain plug.

Do you know exactly what you dropped in there? You might get lucky with one of those telescopic magnet picker-upper things.

the master link circlip.. it shot off there like a rocket.

im gonna turn it over and see if I am lucky.

weird.. left side is stamped .5 right side is stamped 1.00... got the master link recovered.. but I think the circlip is lost for good.. I am 75 percent sure it went into the engine.. but that little bastard came flying off there.

yea.. having a hard time getting the side cover off thanks to the magneto.. and I dont have a wheel puller.. was hoping to pick one up.. or borrow one from Teazer if he is around today. :-D

Full engine for parts.

Cant go any higher on the cyl bore.. so I was thinking about these.

Really just posting so I don't lose the links.

Those liners are pretty interesting.

I was digging through my old files and couldn't find any decent pictures of the piston crown. It may be possible to bore it out another 1mm and fit CB160 pistons. On that motor, the two bores are close together, so they can't just keep going up in bore size. Eventually the pistons meet in the middle.

But 50mm low crown 160 pistons may just work.

ill snap a shot tonight. I keep thinking about pulling the jugs off to powder coat black... but I don't have the new rings yet. I think I might just replace the rings and hope that does the trick. I have an appointment with HPR in Antioch this weekend to drop of the head and get it re-worked. I think the whole works might run me 200 bucks.

There's also a great auto machine shop in Libetyville that we use. For barrels, I just use a rattle can of Engine paint. There's a good powder shop in Racine (The blast shop) that is priced very competitively for standard colors. They don't look like they do a lot of fancy colors though.

I had frames, brackets etc P/Cd there.

We can compare piston shapes and measure the "liner" thickness when you bring the motor round and we can strip out the head so it's ready for machining. That's a 5 minute job. Bring your camera and notebook, so you know how to put it all back together.

At the side or CarQuest on 21. It's called APC or something like that. Kevin is the manager and loves to talk cars and interesting projects.

shoot.. that is within walking distance of me. I should take the head there and have it gone through.

I've got a parts engine up on the shelf that I have no intention of ever using for anything. So if you need anything let me know.
