2 weeks ago picked up a supposedly complete bikes in parts with another near complete bike.

Only 1 frame had any paperwork - so on paper its a 1980 CX500 UK Spec

Starting from the ground working up I cleaned up the wheels and the forks - new bearings and seal

Started on the seat pan. Chopped down the original and added some ply and expanding foam to make a fibreglass mould

Humps too high so needs some more shaping

Im planning to relocate the battery under the engine. If anyone is making and selling these items please pm me

First attempt at fibreglassing

Covered the mould in brown masking tape - then the first sheet of fibre glass

In line with the instructions for beginners I only used 1% catalysts so it may take a while to dry

Getting there slowly.

All the wiring is relocated under the seat pan.

Euro spec clocks still on - wiring the US spec Gl500 clocks is a little tricky to slice into the wire harness as none of the wires are the same colour and the GL500 has more.

Will change the master cylinder for a smaller version so I can mount the clipons above the yokes

Yamaha rd350 headlight in post – its 8in rather than the Honda 7in

Tank be matt blue – Porsche Mexican blue – seat will be silver – exhaust headers will be wrapped

In time will remake the seat plan as I think I can make it better – currently too much body filler for my liking
