"Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

Ha! Did it say 'just a little carb cleaning and a fresh battery and it'll run'? Because that might automatically qualify it for cafe status.

... and the ever-important "ran when parked"... :)

Doesn't say cafe but got to love guys that throw tons of money on aftermarket/upgraded parts and expect to get most of that money back 3 months later

has to be one of the most over priced monster i have seen hahahah a 01 for 2010 price

yeah there is an 03 duc sport classic for sale by me for 11k I laughed for awhile about that. Then they always justify it with the line I saw one on ebay going for.... well then go sell it on ebay is my thought. Another hilarity is the 80 something bike that is crapped up someone is asking 3000 for i am like dude you will be waiting a long time to sell that one. Some peoples sentimental value way outweighs the actual value. I wonder if some of these guys are just doing it to tell the wife they are trying to sell it.

So the real thing was sketchy! Why isnt a cafe, a put down? seriously, I love bikes. I build, like I dress. Myself! I dont dress like G.G. Alan... because I think he ROCKS! Because he was shit...w/ good tunes.
Yeah,Louie, most of the real deals were iffy at best and problems at worst. I dont consider cafe a put-down at all. I dont consider my KZ or Yamaha as cafes cause they just arent IMO.One is a straight line ass-haulin mofo and the other loves the Dragon better than anything.they both lost some weight during rebuilding, but are not bare bones minimalists by any means. I hang out here for the ideas all these young dudes have and use em when I can.I doubt I contribute much (except the Gremlin Bell),but so be it.Carry on.bj

I know my opinions are unique... I'd also be one of the 1st to correct someone if they called my bike a Cafe, unless it was a Goldie, or feather bed based Triton etc...

So the only cafe racers are period 60's bikes that only trust fund kids and old guys can afford to build?

True Cafe Racer... Swaps definition

Cafe racer style ... everything else that tries to emulate Swaps definition

;D

Me sees.
I'm just a bit more loose in my thinking there. And it really just boils down to semantics. What you call a thing doesn't change the thing.

Its been awhile since there's been a good "this is a cafe", "fuck you" chat here. At least a week. Lets do this thing. Hahaha. ;)

unfortunately, yes... I'm building the chop right now. As a once in a life build. But I could have picked a triton build for the same $.

I thought this was a cafe racer site. It says in the title. Do the ton cafe racers. Yet i can't find a thread about a norton/ old bsa/ or a triumph hardly anywhere. I am so confused anymore.

Well, out of the two I would've built a chop too. Just never had a hard-on for a triton. Maybe an old BSA triple someday...

And it begins. This should make for some entertaining reading at work tomorrow. :)

I have a 1972 Triumph Bonny box stock that I bought new but I guarontee u nobody is gonna chop/cut /rebuild on it.It goes into the ground with me.xs650s cant be cafes?Sr600s cant be cafes?RD350/400? There aint enough Ariels,Matchless,AJS,Zundapps, or anything else left to qualify that most of us can afford so what we gonna "cafe"?The ultimate UJM Hondas and anything else that catches someones fancy.Jeez.bj

Kasi - That is f***ing awesome mate, seriously cool. Hope you have many enjoyable times on her!

As for the cafe debate, who gives a damn. Ride what you love and love what you ride. Game, set, match.
