For $6500 at least he could dust it off.

I was going to go buy this 1974 Yamaha Rd200, but my girlfriend thinks it's too much bike for her so we're going to pick up a 1974 DT100 instead.

Someone jump on this deal

This is why engineering usually requires some form of education.

Haha "Was 81 Kz440". At least he knows he has done wrong.

Not to rob this thread, but plagrone, tell your girl to buy the RD200 - she won't regret it!
She'll be all done with the DT100 in about 6 weeks - tops.
Pat.

I tried to convince her, to no avail. She was riding a CT90, and she's convinced she's gotta stay small. It was all I could do to trick her into a two stroke of the same size. I couldn't do another lil guy four stroke

CX500 Turbo, would love to own one of these. I'll bet cxman has a few sitting around. :)

Over the years, I've run into several of these at a decent price. Get myself all jacked up until I go ride it. I'm not saying it's a bad bike, It's just.... un-inspirational. People talk about how industrial Harley's feel, these things just don't do it for me. I've tried on several occasions to buy one, but just couldn't part with the $ to bring it home... And this is from a guy who's suffered rebuilding several Yamaha 850 triples (tank of a bike, but can't keep my hands off them).

I'd say its also been binned at some point, that screen area doesn't look quite right and the 'TURBO' decal should actually be mirrored (printed back to front) so that the car you're following can wonder why this bike with 'TURBO' on the front of it hasn't got the power to pass him.......
have ridden one a long time ago and the question posed itself...'why bother with a CX?', no disrespect to those that love a bit of CX action, but Honda had some far more suitable bikes for turboing ( CBX for instance) so why start yourself off with something that was never designed as a speed demon in the first place, then to top it off bolt a barndoor sized (and weighted) fairing that makes it about as wind resistant as a caravan (with overloaded suspension to give caravan like handling too)
of all the factory turbos from that period, only kawasaki really hit the nail on the head and even they only bothered for a year or so
after all, someone invented GSXR's, FZ's and the like a year or so later and it was the start of a whole new era that made all the turbos seem seriously old fashioned, i worked in a bike shop back then and you couldn't give the things away

I spoke with Cxman the other day about this, and another factor is that they get something like 14 mpg. Where are ya gonna go?
