"Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

This thread is getting way off base, but I find it interesting that we see all manner of abominations "created" primarily by white guys including most on this forum, OCC etc and yet we relate the bad crap with different ethnic groups than our own. WTF is that about.

Whit guys in my town own most of the OCC type bling - not Lebanese or African Americans. In Chicago the noisy gangs of bikes riding around making a nuisance seem to be mainly black or Hispanic but they are hardly the majority of bad taste and obnoxious behavior.

And in this case, the style of modification falls squarely into the white hipster demographic.

This thread is heading into dangerous territory and maybe it's time for all of us to check our stereotypes at the door. When I invited people to insert their favorite term of endearment, it was a joke and not an invitation to get ugly.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this kind of shit is fucked, and is willing to call it out. "Wog" is a similarly offensive ethnic slur to "nigger" -- it comes from "golliwog," a blackface doll. I'm just amazed at the defensive nature of posts when this shit is pointed out, which are generally akin to "I'm not racist!" ("I just use racist terms and ascribe shitty behavior/builds to people ethnically different from me! What's so racist about that?").

I don't necessarily believe that the folks who repeatedly malign other ethnicities have deep seated ethnic hatred or prejudice, but it's definitely questionable judgment to post this shit on a public forum.

I'm interested in getting back to talking shit about shitty bikes as well, albeit without the ham-fisted assumptions about race.

Understood. But... I remember when people weren't such pussies and could take a little socially incorrect comment without sounding the race card... seems lately we are all on egg shells, I for one think it's a part of the Masters plan to divide us again! By the way, I learned the term "jitneyrig" from an old black dude in Lansing MI when I was around 8, his wife (lived right next door) used to babysit me when I was a toddler.

So Teazer... check your facts before you pull your tampon and bleed all over your leg.

Teazer didn't "pull the race card" -- it was already pulled out.

A jitney is a repurposed military jeep, in places such as the Philippines, where abandoned army surplus vehicles were adopted by the population as public transportation. Don't know how it would prove your point that a black guy said the term "jitneyrig" -- there's no racial connotation whatsoever.

Why does race have to have anything to do with it? If you build a stupid looking contraption then it is just that...I HAVE SEEN PLENTY OF EM IN HERE !!!...so is it ok for me to start ragging on the shitty builds in here....do we want to run them off ? Just grow the fuck up people....

My point is clear nuff... No retraction necessary. I f the mod feels it needs edit, it will happen, no 1st here.

Hey guys a $10K Yamaha.... and the best part is no one knows what color the guy or gal is that made it.

+1 lets see some bikes on here again. Maybe we should make a non moderated pissing contest thread so you guys can have this exact same conversation that happens on here every few months. Hell, you can probably just copy and paste all your same responses =)

Too much money but I love those spoked rims. 2003 bike for 10K? Those bikes are far too easy to find to be that kind of money even with the mods. Only someone who wants that exact bike modded that way will pay that for it IMHO.

haha im with ya on that man. I actually don't have much against the bike looks wise, with the exception of the ape hangers and the $10k price point. I would probably rather have it stock, and the high end of stock price wise would probably be $5k or less

"Important caveat. This bike does not currently run and requires an engine rebuild. Electrical systems work well. It will require you to pick it up and haul it off."

Also, you might want to be named Melissa.

I like most of that (Yamaha) thing, the clubman's and the price are off putting, but that thing is right in yer backyard mang. I can buy nice stock versions for 800-1K Just haven't been drawn there yet... those Acronts sure are purrdy

Sweet little thrifty... again price? no meat left, you have to buy to own and if looking for that reason, make a solid offer and doit cause it seems the one to own for a rider.

Pricing here is either through the roof or practically free, seldom in-between. I usually just wait around for the gimme. That XS is a nice scoot, but I won't go in on that unless the price goes to less than half.

Not a Cafe Racer but something that someone might put on their cafe racer and the price, so affordable.
Needs paint too!
