Hi from Down Under, I'm slowly cafe-ing my old cb750F I have a fiberglass seat from Carpy at cb750.com and have just got an upholster to make a pan and fit the foam and everything, I decided that stiching along the length of the seat made a nice line and the four stiched rows are a subtle hint at the "Four" pipes.
The colour is british racing green with about 20 layers of paint. Will be reassembling everything in a week or two and will post some pics of the whole bike.

here's a few more I didn't do the job as i decided I wanted it done well and it all up cost me about $90 U.S as he gave me a "bikers Discount"
The seat itself is one of Carpys, I prepped and painted it first the gave it to the upholsterer, He made a wooden pan that fitted into place, This was quite involved as he had to carve a negative space to fit the raised moulding (x shape) on the bum stop part of the seat. once that was made he cut foam for the seat and used a firm foam about an inch thick, He then glued some sheets fabric to a thinner layer of foam so he could stich through it for the deatailing, that way the thread wouldnt just rip through the foam. hope that makes sense. sorry i wasn't there for the whole process. The sheet gluing is a trick of the trade and could save some time and materials.
In picture "cafe racer seat 009.jpg" you show the backside having a bit of a cut-out. What's that for? How did you mount the seat pan to the seat? How much $$ did the upholstery set you back?

Thanks I'm happy howe it looks too. The cutout x was so the wooden seat pan would sit flush against the fiberglass, in the picture attached you'll see the raised X shape on the bumstop. This is an airtech seat but Carpys is exactly the same (same original mould?)
Once the foam had been glued to the wooden pan and all the leather streched over and attached it was screwed to the fiberglass base, Theres basically four screws attaching through the Bumstop and two on each side just inside of where the frame rails where the frame rails will sit. The screw head sits under neath the seat and goes through the glass and into the wooden pan. This means that I can take it off if I need to repaint or reglass the seat.
The Upholstery cost me $200 NZ dollars which is less than $100 U.S which for 9 hours labour and all the materials was a good deal
