Cafe Seat for my 75 cb750f BUILD

Don't let Noel fool you - that's not his handiwork in the stitching. Noel, what poor seat did you skin for the cover? Looks like it might be a decent fit with a little effort put into the back end of things.

lol! that stitichin does look nice.

so, i went to the leather store, got a huge black piece for 50 bucks, biggest cost (slightly tarnished in some areas, or it would've been over 100 bucks), but good for 2 seats for sure. got some wax thread, needles, and a puncher, to pre punch holes before you stitch (it'sa gonna be some tedious work!). can't do the red as they have to sell the whole cow, so solid black it is... don't wanna f*** it up so i gotta make sure it's measured/cut and stitched right from the get go . . . (noel, hang on to that vinyl for me, just in case....)

hey noel, is your seat done yet?! we should do a cafe seat show and tell!

Tim is absolutely right.. I didnt sew the leather that you see in the pic. That was stock cover that was on the cb750f seat that I bought.
Since its basically the same shape and in great shape, its just gonna be modified abit to accomodate the new cowl.

Its going out to get fixed on Wednesday, when I pick up my cb550 seat, that is currently being modified the same way.

I plan to have that seat cafe seat on the cn550 for Wednesday's meet.

PS.. I was told by the leather guys, that Vinyl is better to use for motorcycle seats since is it generally more durable and handles the rain/water better than the leather which is more porus...

yeah, heard that too, but i can also treat the stuff and make it almost waterproof. but then the guys at the leather store said it'd be fine and it'll last long if you take care of it.... oh well, i just wanna finish the dang thing! lol!

Garment weight leather tends to stretch after use so the cover may get a bit saggy and loose it's tautness over time. Yes you can treat with a water repellent dressing that will help maintain it's durability.

Cows do fine in the rain, seem to handle rain and wather well :p

voila!!
Stand by for pics of the seat on the cb750f...

LOL... I actually dont know what Im gonna do with that Giuliari seat...
Its just taking up room in my office. I might ebay or just keep in until I have another cafe racer project...
unless someone makes me an offer that I cant possibly refuse!!...LOL..

BTW... Here is the tail light that I will be using on that seat: A rear light from a Ninja zx6R.
Its been rewired to act as an integrated turn signal/brake light as well so I dont need to have Turn signals.
It will perfectly fill in the "hole" in the back of the hump. I just have to build a bracket.

Noel,
Seat looks great, I hope mine looks half as good.
I'm starting to shape the mold today. Wish me luck! :-\
Can you tell me the year and dimensions of the zx6r light?
It looks the perfect shape I was thinking of popping in to the back end.

Overall, the taillight is 7 inches long and 2.75 inches tall.
Oh yeah, I blacked out the red in between so it looks like 2 Cannons.
Im gonna have to mount them on to the frame of the bike rather than to the seat cowl itself.
So that when the seat flips open, the tail light will stay in its place.

I hope this helps

Cheers
N
