So I am starting my '79 GS 425 project and want to get working on the seat. I am not 100% sure if I am going to fab my own or buy something from Dime City, etc. My question is this (for a pre-made seat pan): after taking measurements of the seating area, it looks like I am at 6 1/2" at the tank and 8" at the rear (cowl area), and total length is about 27" or so. Do I buy a seat pan that has slightly larger dimensions or as close as possible to those dimensions? Also, is the pan supposed to sit right on top of the rails or should there be a bit of an overhang (curtains)? Thanks in advance.
