Cafe Style, Brat style?? Need a two up option for CB550F 77

I'm in a dilema. I was going for a type of traditional Cafe style seat, but could do with option of two up riding. The cafe style versions don't float my boat. I quite like the slim seat style on the wrenchmonkees type build, but you can't show a picture of that without a tonne of abuse about being a 'hipster'

So quesiton. the stock seat is too bulky, what are people's suggestion on a two up alternative? has anyone seen a removable cowel for a brat style slim seat?

I have never (personally) seen one, but im sure you can make some sort of custom cowl etc... (or at least get them made) ... I am however a fan (as well as many others) of the flat / slim seats, and for sure wont be giving you any abuse about being a "hipster".

If you want to re-consider, have a look at some of the custom seats that CRD pt on there bikes (very nice indeed) :

Let us know how you get on !

I was thinking along those lines. had the bike out with the tank on yesterday and with the work at the front end and without the seat on it made we start to rethink the normal cafe style, especially as I was wanting two up option.

On bike exif, there is a CB750 from motohangars that has a KZ seat on it. looks pretty nice, but again, not too good for two up

Jon,

This is the exact type of seat I am after as well, do you happen to know where to purchase one, or would I just have to look into fabricating one?

Just finishing up my first bike, a CB550 and this is the exact type of seat I want, but can't find them for sale anywhere! Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Aaron

Hi Aaron, sadly I am in the same boat as you are :( I am currently working on a CB750 project, and aslo after such a seat. I have not found anyone selling them. I guess because they are pretty much all custom to particular bikes, so the only way would be to wither make one yourself, or get one made for you etc...

If you keep an eye on my build, the seat is one of the next steps, so I can let you know how I get on / what I decide :

If you are based in Europe, it may be worth contacting SRC as they could pb make you such a seat if you sent them a "shape" template, but you would have to speak to them directly.

let me know how you get on and if I can be of any further help !!!

Cheers,
Jon.

Thanks for the link, i'll definitely keep my eyes on it. I've watched a few tutorials on seat making now, and have been in contact with a few people on the best way to go about fabricating one myself.

Think I'm going to try to tackle making one next week.

Cheers.

Good work !!! let me know how it goes !!!

I should mention for those interested.. Dime City has the "brat" style flat thin leather wrapped seats on their site. Both flat, and upswept.

A bit too pricey for my taste, but definately think I can fabricate the same style at a fraction of the cost, if anyone has any experience doing so, tips are always welcome! ;)
