Cafe'd mini bike???

Forward

Been Around the Block
One project is never enough...

I was thinking about picking up a vintage mini bike for my eight year old and putting the cafe treatment to it.

Any one seen this done before?

Oh, yeah! Google Honda ZB50. You'll find loads of examples. The cradle frame is a steel version of the YSR/NSR50. Some are even modded to look like mini Ducs! Clip-ons, rearsets, alloy rims, disk brakes, etc.

I found a 71 benelli in pretty good shape on the cheap.

I figured I would build some mini clip ons and mount the pegs farther back. It has a headlight that is actually pretty cool looking.

Well hell, here is a picture I robbed from craigslist...

You mean kinda like this? Minus the sissy bar of course. This was a 1980 xr80 that got bastardized with upside down handlebars and a cb500t tank for the afternoon.

My plan is to do it for real in a few years when my son is old enough to start riding around the field. This was just something we did for fun one afternoon last summer. I've actually looked online a lot for this same idea, haven't found much tho. But I think its really cool. Kinda like an old school pocket rocket.

This one won BOTM. Built by user Bradwsm.

That thing is rad...

Kind of reminds me of an angry insect that wants nothing more but to sting me.

Just picked up a 87 pw50 a couple months ago for my boy. After some tweaking it runs like a top.
That'd be fun to do on the ol' 2 smoker.

Fat Willy, I think we still have an old Scat Kitty minibike that's never amounted to anything in all the years we've owned it. I'll try to check if it's still in the shed, if you're interested.

I was kind of looking for something with a top mounted tank...I appreciate the offer though.

You know where Aurora, Illinois is?

I'm on the southwest outskirts. I need to see if we still *have* it, but if so, almost certainly yes. Pop will probably let it go reeeeal cheap since we don't use it and since the only one of us the right size for it is my 14-year-old sister who we hardly trust on a pedal bicycle. :D

Current mini street tracker project . . .

Yes - it is street tagged!

Started life as a Jincheng Panda 50cc with a streetable VIN. It is a Honda 50 Clone of the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) "Monkey Bike". It started with an auto 3 speed and 8" all terrain tires.

The end result will be a 125cc manual 4 speed Lifan motor, Honda ZB50 front forks (I.e. real hydraulic forks) extended swinger, Honda CT70 10" wheels with Pirelli SL26 street tires. The front fender is from a generic Asian scooter. Anticipated top speed is about 55 - kind of a "Half-Ton" ☻

Close to being finished, but it will be torn down for final paint after all the parts are fabbed/fitted.

CB125's are great. I really want to build one for my lady.

Thing is... I wouldn't really call it a "mini-bike"... I mean sure it's small and all, but... Not that small!

True, but in reality my Rupp Roadster2 minibike has a bigger engine! ;) (probably weighs more too...)

That's awesome, What a beast!!

I just picked up a bundle of old bikes, one of them being a little guy called a "JT Kami". Can't really find any good information about them online. I guess it's a Fuji engine(maybe?) I know it's some sort of Hodaka clone. It's a mess, it was in a field... But I still thought it was pretty cool.
