THE RANT
OK y'all, I may be an unworthy noober but why are y'all so fookin' tense? Is it cabin fever? PMS (parked motorcycle syndrome)? Tell us. So oldog posts something naughty on this forum and folks are outraged. Some folks even leave this place. One guy even wants to take patches of his jacket over what; A FOOKIN WEBSITE!!! Get real folks. If a group of 1%'s threatend you take off your patches or you get an ass whoopin' damn straight I would comply. They outnumber us and outgun us. But a website? Bikers, all bikers, are a rebellious lot. Go to ADVrider, CycleWorld, Gigabikes, BARF, BMWMOA, etc.. you will find numbers of folks going against the norms of society.
Why is that? I think it stems from the passion of riding. Whether it be a scooter, a 1950 Vincent Black Shadow, a 2006 BigDog, a 1975 Husky 430, a 2008 Yammie R6, there is passion there. Passion for life. Passion for the sport. Can you think of a time when riding was boring (don't answer that question if you work for a motorcycle shop ;D)? Even the commute gets exciting for me sometimes. And even if it was boring, didn't you feel at a small twinge of accomplishment? Since most folks here ride a bike that isn't a mainstream product, passions are gonna run a bit high. By all rights, y'all should have gotten rid of your old jap bikes and have gotten new shyte. But we still hang on to our old bikes. We do that because they are unique and it takes a bit mechanical prowess and luck to keep them on the road. I've seen y'all build stuff to enhance the riding experience. That in itself is passion.
In closing, I wish to send a blessing to my Canadianan friends.
Though your winter is long, may your summer be strong
May you bust a ton, and have loads of fun.
And when the ridin' is done and your bike is off
May you relive the moment and have a larf!
