Im looking for any advise for camming my 72 cb350 twin...

Not looking for an all out race cam...

Just a cam that will give it a nice "LOPE" sound while keeping everything else relatively stock...

Havent had much luck looking, Megacams, but it seems like you need to change alot..

any other options?
thanks

Don't remember which but either Megacycle or Webcam list 3 different grinds

a cam with higher lift but the same timing should give you more power over the whole band, and give the same rideability, but you'll probably need to make sure the valve springs, cam chain and pistons are okay with it. by getting a cam that has different timing, it will have a narrower powerband and won't be as easy to ride, but it might give you the sound you want at idle... seems like a lot of work to do just go get a sound right... you could probably build pipes that would give you the sound you want instead of making a can of worms out of the engine

I am planning on building my own exhaust, Do you have any info on this? how can you make an exhaust system tweak the smooth sound to a choppyish one? lol

Good question and there are many possible answers.

The best street cam is Megacycle 123-00 which requires no changes to the rest of the motor and will not grenade it. No need for lumpy race cams or big valves etc. Fit a good spring kit from Kibblewhite or R&D and have a valve job done on it and maybe just clean up teh ports slightly. Build it with a new cam chain and tensioner and you should be good to go. You could fit a Jemco race exhaust but a pair of noisy Dunstall replica megs are probably a better bet for your project.

in the mufflers, run the exhaust through a louvre core, i.e. put a plug on one end and route the exhaust from the engine from the outside to the inside and out the unplugged side, works great with a cone and reverse cone muffler, sounds great too as it knocks the top end off the pitch of the exhaust note, also, you can remove your starter, starter clutch and machine down the alternator rotor, this will take enough flywheel weight off so that it idles a little unevenly
