Cameras?

Buy the ticket, take the ride.
I know it has nothing to do with bikes... but we all like pics of bikes... And I know there are other photographers on the board here..... so...

Just wondering what you shoot with...

I really wanted a Canon Eos 5D Mark II, but its just more than i should spend right now. I settled for a D90.. and am gonna get a kick ass pro lens...

I've waited a really long time to buy my own nice digital camera, and the Video option sounds enticing. Has anyone seen the video that Vincent Laforet shot with Mark II ( www.vincentlaforet.com ) I'm anxious to try shooting some videos of bikes here in KC this spring...

I started with a Cosina SLR because it had spot metering and interchangable lenses
At the time there were no electronic camera's
Now I mainly use a Nikon something or other because it has a pretty good macro feature.

Cool mototcross shot. Even cooler Bell Moto 3 helmet! My dad gave me his old Canon FT SLR years ago and ever since my film cameras have been Canons. But I'm really interested in the Sony Alpha SLRs, mostly the A900 and A700. Love the design and feel. The Zeiss lenses are nice.

i have been shooting a D200 for a few years now. i have shot nikon from the beginning -- for no other reason than thats what my uncle shot and he ave me my first camera. knowing that all of lenses i have ever purchased will fit all of my cameras is nice. i have also have an N90s and had an N6006 (my first auto focus). nikon versus cannon can open up a huge debate. its like ford vs chevy, coke vs pepsi or mac vs pc. i have worked with amazing photographers who shoot both. they each have their features. i don't know too much about the D90. i can't imagine you will be disapointed. you are right about buying good lenses. hell a couple of the lenses i use most often are tamron's, but i always try and get a lens with an f/2.8 fixed aperature. more money yes, but well worth it in my mind. and for me it isn't even so much about the extra light, it is about depth of field. kit lenses are almost worthless in my opinion. also, nikon glass is top notch in my book, at least over cannon. cannon has interesting stabilizer technology and silent wave motors for fast auto focus, but i think it all works out in the wash. i don't know anything about shooting video, so i won't even touch that. do you have anywhere you post your work? if anybody gives a damn, my ghett ass website is www.ryanbarrphotography.com

have fun with it and good luck. the best thing about digital is shooting is free (other than memory cards). so shoot as much as you can. if they suck there is that little trash can button. then shoot some more.

later,

ryan

I shoot with a FujiFilm s5 Pro. They are much the same as the NIkon D200, with a fuji sensor that creates awesome color. I am new to the board and half drunk or i would post some pics. Do a search, for some shots from it, you will be impressed!

The best part is they can be found on the used market occasionally for about 750 or so. Only drawback is sport photog it isnt so fast

I shoot with a Canon 30D, with a new Rebel XSI as a backup body. Got a couple of fast lenses for my low-light bike pr0n.

And I have way too many studio lights, even though bathroom lighting will do in a pinch.
