I have a 1980 cb750. I got the bike dumb cheap but i'm reaching a road block on the rebuild. The tank was on the bike but it wasn't bolted up or had a petcock. At first I thought no big deal. I took the tank and got it porcelain coated to get
the rust out. Now that that's done, I ordered a petcock based on what the frame says "1980 cb750c". Unfortunately, it is too small. I'm not sure where to go. So......what the hell tank is this? What I did find out is that a half inch flared fitting will fit on it but a regular half inch thread is too big. I tried to make something at my local Lowes but all I got was gas on my hands.Any thoughts?

does the rear tank mount line up with the spot on the frame or is the tank too long?

Honda did a weird thing with the petcocks on the DOHC era CBs. Each year has a different thread size so, a 1980 CB750C (for example) petcock will only fit a 1980 CB750C tank, same with 79,81,82,83. I had to deal with the same thing, building mine.

well, maybe it is a CB750 tank. Not sure how you could go about figuring out which petcock you need.

Finally found a petcock for this beast. I ended up ordering a petcock from Pingle with a 18mm adapter. Fits up great and low and behold She fired right up.I was shocked. Im so shocked im not sure what to do next. I think ill change the oil after it warms up and swap for some clip-ons, rear sets and a new seat. Any ideas on the rear sets? 80cb750c
