Can you flip headlight mounting sleeves? 76 CB550

I have always hated how high the headlight was in relation to the rest of the bike on stock 70's CBs.

I have a 1976 Honda CB550. Simple question... Can you take off the stock headlight mounting sleeves and turn them upside down without any other modifications? If you do have to make modifications, what exactly are they? Does anyone have any before/after pictures?

In the end, I used a different setup, but I mocked up this idea by using a set of GL1000 sleeves, cut off the reflector mounts and flipped them upside down. Small holes and two set screws in the back kept them tight.
