Canadian Decaf Racer

Hey there. I've been eying up this forum for a little while and thought I'd finally sign up. I've been wanting to do some sort of bike build for the longest time and finally got the opportunity to build a half assed cafe project last fall when I purchased a CM400T. A lot of guys end up selling their rides once they have a kid, but I somehow managed to convince my wife that I needed one AFTER we had a kid!

When I bought the CM400, it had been sitting for a little while but seemed to be in overall decent shape (from my limited knowledge) and it was pretty much in stock form. I did the typical fluid change, carb cleaning, tighten/replace a few bolts and she's a solid runner. I haven't done too much to it as of yet, but I do have plans. I think the clubmans was the first thing to go on followed by the seat. It's just foam and a cover that I order on eBay that you instal over the original seat pan, providing you have one in one piece. You can find it from http://myworld.ebay.ca/hondaclassic31/?_trksid=p4340.l2559 if you're interested. I also hacked up the chain guard after I took the pictures below and turned the rear end of that into a plate holder. That's pretty much it as of right now.

What's next? I have a new set of Kenda Challengers on the way with some el cheapo bar end mirrors to keep local law enforcement happy. I also have a new seat that I'm waiting to instal until I can find a suitable tank for the look I'm going for. I've gotten a huge amount of inspiration from fresh_c and his "ugly duckling CM400T build". I plan on making a seat frame like his and mounting the electronics under the seat as well. I really want a CB400F tank, but it seems that you have to donate a kidney and a lung for a rusty banged up tank. A set of Emgo shorty's and Viet's rearsets and I'll be laughing. I'm trying to keep it as low budget as possible while making it as fast (lol) and fun to drive as I can. The true cafe spirit I guess.
