Looking to remove the air box not due to trying to make more power or anything but i am trying to clean up the look of the bike. does anyone have any tips on thought of how to do this and make the bike run properly without the motor running lean. any help would be awesome. i am a automotive tech and this is my first bike that i am working on.

First off, welcome to the forum jradd87
1st off, I recommend when ever asking technical questions to list what bike you have, or better yet, put it in your signature that way it shows up on every post. You can find where to do that in the "Profile" section. ;)
Next, WOW that is a HUGE can-o-worms you just opened up. That topic is probably THE most popular one on the sight. Seeing as this was your first post, I would like you to look at the top left of the page, under the banner, there are buttons. The fourth one over is "Search". You will find TONS of info on your question, some in more detail than you could ever imagine.
Short answer is "no" you will have to rejet the carbs, and they are all different, so don't expect a quick answer to what jets to use on your particular engine. And some carbs just don't respond well to pods. The design engineers spent a lot of R&D time on the airbox.... typically, Mikuni's yes / most Keihin no.
