Carb "setting" after rebuild.....

Islandstar

Been Around the Block
So I just took carbs off to rejet... I've bench synced carbs and put them back on and I've gotten the bike to start. However balance the carbs is proving to be impossible!!!!! I'm using a home made manometer, as I won't get the real deal for a few weeks. Assuming that I've mucked up all the screw settings,(screws between carbs and idle screw), where would be a good place to restart? Thanks in advance.

Re: Carb "setting" after rebuild.....

You can take the carbs off and mechanically sync them. I use small gauge wire, can get from a craft store. Use it like a feeler gauge between the throttle bodys and the butterflys.

Thanks for the responses. I got it sorted (more or less), but here are some of the issues I have with the entire sync process, even as described by the manual...
the manual say first take the bike to 1700rpms, then using screw between carb 3 and 4 to balance those two, then using the screw between 1 and 2 to balance those, then use the screw between 2 and 3, to balance the left side carbs to the right side carbs. So from what I've found out..the idle screw controls the 2nd carb, the screw between 1 and 2 controls the 1st carb, the one between 3 and 4 controls the 4th carb, and the one between 2 and 3 controls the 3rd carb, so following the instructions makes no sense to me...but what do I know I'm jus a guy that works in a gym!!!!
