Carb tuning

finally got my bike all together

but after i rebuilt the carbs, i just can't seem to get them perfect

the bike runs if i fiddle with the choke just right
otherwise it will only idle or die

any tuning tips or ideas of what could be adjusted?

Not to threadjack but I've got the same problems with a cb350. Seems like its a different problem every time I run it. Today it fired up and idled at 2k with the choke on and when I opened the choke it reved to 4k. Before that it was idling fine but wouldn't rev.

when you say 'fiddle' with the choke, what do you mean? Will it stay running if you have a lot of choke or just a little? Maybe your carbs are extremely rich or lean?

If the choke is on for the bike to run, then somthing isn't right

I would be checking the airscrews - try turning in your airscrews ( less air more fuel)

KEIHIN carb model
CB350A , 3D 3/4 TURNS OUT
3B &3C 1 TURN OUT
722A 726A 728A 1 &1/8 TURNS OUT

CB360
745A 1 &1/8 TURNS OUT
745B 749A 750A 754A 1 & 5/8 TURNS OUT
747A 1 & 3/4 TURNS OUT

hope this helkpss

I've been told the straight pipes arent helping....

i'm still waiting on my jets

but even with the pipes it should at least idle....

i'll try the air screws and see what happens

I think the basics are in order if you give the run down of what carbs you are running what pipes you have on.
you probably need to up the jet size. remember there is a main and a pilot. jets are fairly inexpensive so if you are going to do this I would order two sizes up from stock for each (main, pilot) start with the base setting for your carbs. remember a small amount of turn to the jet is a lot to a carb.
