I am trying to remove the Carbs on my 76. cb750 F. This is my first attempt at fiddling with the carborators.
I have managed to get the throttle cables off, and I got all of the connectors on the airbox side of the carbs off. I can not get connectors on the engine side of the carbs to budge even a little.
The manual say that I will have to pry them off, but I wanted to ask for advice before I really set in on them and wrecked something. The rubber is pretty hard and I am not sure if this is normal or if it a result of being 30 years old.
Does anybody have any advice or tips on how to get the carbs lose?
I'd use a 2x4 as a lever to get them off. Works great to seat the carbs back in to the boots as well. Soak the rubber boots in some antifreeze, and that should soften them up for when you put the carbs back in too.
I thought about silicone spray, but I did not know if that would react badly with the rubber. I did not think of the anti-freeze Thanks for the tip I will try that out when I get around to putting it all back together.
They came lose with some heat, using the wood handle of a rubber mallet for leverage to get some play, and once I got them loose I squeezed the airbox out the right side. After that they came out no problem.
