CB 360 rearsets....POLL

Been Around the Block
I have finally had a chance to look over a friends 360, and we can go a couple differetn ways with this one.

First......Mount my pegs and levers directly to the passenge peg holes, with a small spacer behind to help clear the welds and frame. The down side to this is its real close to the pipes on a factory exhaust system. the Upside is it will deifintly clear the kicker with solid pegs!!! Which will help keep costs down. ;) And with a minimal spacer, that will also help keep costs down.

Second..... I can design a bracket that will bolt to the passenger peg hole, and extend forward about 3 inches. It will have a tab machined on it to reset on the lower tube of the passenger peg frame mounts. The will be a central boss, to mount the pegs and levers to. This will give exhaust clearance, but may hinder kicker clearance at the toe peg. The kick arm geometry is great in that it already angles away from the frame quite a bit.

The brake setup will be pretty straight forward. I will remove the existing pedal and re use the pivot for it. making a shaft and lever system similar to whats already there, just with no 3lb steel pedal!!! A lever on the inside of the frame to actuate the stock clevis arm, and a lever on the outside to mount linkage and brake switch to.

Leave your thoghts and ideas, and complaints. thanks,
Kris.

Here is another Option or idea I had. This will be a single piece mount with a lip around the inside edge to capture around the factory plate. this will be the same piece on both sides, to help keep costs down, and supply user with 3 mounting options!!!!
I think this is the best route so far. THOUGHTS?????

Sweet moved on to 360's. Is there a way to have a bracket to move it 3 inches back? I am excited to see how these come out. I think its awesome your making them light weight

Wow, 3 inches back seems pretty drastic. I thought the passenger pegs were a pretty good position for some aggressive riding. The bike I was messing with had some superbike bars on it. It felt good. I'm liking the idea of the triangular plate with a few mounting options. I'll have time to .make some in a couple weeks. I'm renting a machine for the week of thanksgiving to do a bunch of r&d work. I'll keep the post updated with my progress. I'll be ordering a brake pedal from eBay this week to take the necessary measurements from.

I was thinking about moving mine back 3 inches, I am 6'2'' and Idk just yet if moving them back would be better. right not the bigger kickstand is hitting the peg and will bounce up and down and hit it, thats just another reason I wanted to move it more back and I got a bigger tank and didnt want to move my seat back anymore. Looking forward to seeing how these come out. Shuld be getting one of your sets in the future.

i like the idea of making a plate vs. the passengers peg holes. i know atleast for me my exhaust has a mount to that hole lol. if this becomes available i will ABSOLUTELY buy a set. ill be keeping my eye on this.

I think the best way to do it is the easy way. use the passenger peg holes small spacer to clear the frame. and the lower cost the better. for me atleast. :) i want a set

The only real problem I see with using the passenger pegs is clearance with the stock exhaust. I just built a cb360 with loaded gun universal rear sets and no way could I use the stock exhaust and get the brake or shifter levers where I needed. oh yah and the kick stand is pretty inconvenient too.

Agreed, thats were I have mine and they work fine and look fine. If thats how the other set is, i can just get that set so the other 360's can have the bracket and keep down confusion and cost down.

This is the reason for the plate. I agree, that mounting directly to the pass. peg hole is cheapest and mayy be easier. But the Stock muffler does come really close underneath, and could hinder lever travel, and force the lever to be in a more horizontal position, making things dificult. With the plates, you can move the mount location up and forward to get away from the pipe. I can do both ways if necessary. But they will all have the brake arm setup included. No bother to Me. Ill figure out a spacer size to use and go from there.

Great thanks for the support.

I have programs done for the plates, and i am designing the brake pivot today and tomorrow while im in the shop. After doing some measureing, I think we can get away with solid pegs. Which will REALLY help keep the cost down.

I'm down for a set, cheaper is better ;D. I have Emgo shortys on my bike as shown below, so I don't think clearance will be an issue for my application...

And to answer any questions, yes, those R6 rearsets DIDN'T work out :'(

My first round of prototypes need tweaking to make it fit both sides. This will help keep costs down if i can make one mount for both sides. Round 2 will be this weekend.
