I was opening my engine to change out my broken kick start shaft.
previous owner cheaped out and did a home repair.
Then i noticed that my oil pump gear was completely off center.

Ehh. You may want to replace the pump if that's happening. I think I have a good one in my parts bin if you need it.
I would take it apart and inspect everything to see what's going on. It looks like the spindle or gear has been damaged. It could have been installed incorrectly and damaged as a result. Post some pics of what you find.
Be sure to check the gear that engages that sprocket...I think it's the one on the clutch basket but I haven't opened the CB up in a while. Hopefully that thing didn't mess with any other teeth.

If you haven't already replaced your oil pickup with the one from the CJ, you may be able to find a pump/pickup combo for a decent price on eBay. That's why I have the extra pump lying around
