CB / CL 360 rearsets, 2-2 exhaust clearance issues :(

Been Around the Block
I have an absolutely sweet 75" CL 360 in progress. Running factory 2-2 headers with 17" Emgo reverse cone mufflers (#80-84030B).

I have Motobits rearsets, I can't angle them down past "flat" or "parallel" or the toe piece hits the top of the mufflers. It is not even ride able/ it sucks.Ideally I would like to have a custom stainless 2-1 exhaust that conforms to the nuances of the frame and shifter. But I need something temporary, for this and another bike, until we have time.

Mac 2-1 with the merge in header? Does it clear? I would like to hear your guys thoughts, and solutions. Also I would love to see pictures of your set ups!

Found a Mac 2-into-1 pic via Google, but it does not look like it will help (pic 1). I ended up cutting off the passenger peg mounts and making my own rearset brackets (pic 2) and a custom 2-into-1 exhaust (pic 3) that travels completely below the engine. Even then I had cut and redo it so the muffler was angled properly and low enough so as to give my toe enough room. So I'm not sure if there's an easy, no-weld fix for this. One idea might be to cut your header pipes and weld in some extensions (or have custom ones made) so they fall below the lower frame rails which would help to move the muffler down lower.

A while ago on here seemed the popular fix for 2 - 1 exhaust was pounding the muffler w a mallet until they "made" room for the rear set.

I understand you prefer the 2 -1 setup, however I stayed w 2 - 2 and took mine over the top and I am delighted w the results.

I had to re-form the kick starter to fit around the pipe and had PJ turn a couple extensions for the folding pegs.

Dont mind the wiring harness around the tail light...thats the coiled up harness for the O2 sensor. (temporary and removable)

I also just remembered Compounds cool solution. Again over the top w a 2 -1, that would work very well for the addition of rear sets.

. Does your brake lever have a return stop or does it just go back up until the brake springs quit pulling it back? If you have a stop, you can adjust the brakes to where you just have to push the lever down very little until they engage , and it also looks like you are using a straight lever , cB's with stock location exhaust really need an offset lever.
