CB/CL 360 Tire ?

Been Around the Block
Guys, I just started my build and am wanting to run tall beefy rubber on my 74. I will be running the stock wheels (18) on both front and rear and wanted to know how tall I should go and also some good sources to get them. Can I run the same size tire on the front and rear?

Either this is a wind up from CRN, or, your a dimwit. ::)
There is a search function, the topic has been done to death for at least a year or more.
NO, NO, and NO
80/90 front, 100/90 rear, unless you intend to trailer it?

No just a cycle rookie. I intend on riding this as much as possible. I am stretching the swingarm 6 inches with a custom rear fender mount. I plan on running no front fender. Thanks for the warm welcome. What is a good source for tires?

Check this chart out:

You'll need your rim width (stamped on the wheel- usually by the valve stem). A swing arm that long can have some very dramatic effects on handling. Just FYI. And you said no front fender? I hope you plan on using a fork brace.

As a cycle rookie, I hope you take advice well. There is a lot of good info around here, and most of it is in the concern of keeping your skin off the pavement......

Thanks for the link! I do intend on using all the help I can get! I hate when folks snap/ flame over questions even if they are rookie questions. We all have to start somewhere. I come here to get advise not to be called names! I will be running a brace on the front! Thanks BR!

TO be honest, I am very happy with my STOCK sized tires on a pretty much STOCK bike. It handles as well as can be expected for a rebuilt 37 year old bike and they look fine. The BIGGEST issue for me was keeping the price down yet maintaining as close to the OLD look as I could and still have great performance. I bought and fixed this bike up to RIDE it every frigging chance I get. Sure she is no cafe or bobber but I still get heads turning and waves from all types because nothing is COOLER in my book than a classic bike done up right, no matter the make model or W/E. That means keeping things as close to factory as I can manage but yet still letting me do my thing.

For you, take a long hard look at what you want, and how you want to ride. Understand just simple changes in unsprung (larger/smaller tires) weight will effect the way that a bike will handle most times for the worse. I ride my bike like I stole it 90% of the time. My silly little bitch will run me through corners faster than I can stand at times, I have easily done 30-40 mph over on some of the curves that I have around here and she just holds, matter of fact it wants faster because I feel I am correcting for slow speed. Either that or seat of my pants are wet.

Lol, That is good advise frog! I just picked up my first bike a month ago (74 cl 360) and turned around and picked up a cherry 74 cb360t last night. I plan on bobbing/bratting the cl and leaving the cb alone! I like the look of troy's stretched swing-arm cl so I decided to go that direction for my first custom vintage!

Stock rims are 1.60 front and 1.85 rear (WM1 & WM2)
Brendon just fitted WM2 front and WM3 rear off XS 650 to his360 and was real surprised how much handling improved with 90/90 front and 110/90 rear tyres.
If you re-read your question, it still looks bogus, if you said you just bought a 360 and what you wanted to do, things may have been different

PJ where did he get the rims? I've looked at those over on Mikes and have pondered the thought of getting a set for mine.

Took rear off 360 and fitted it to front, I had a steel XS650 rear rim I wasn't going to use so I gave it to him (he had to strip, clean and paint it though)
As you know, I'm fitting alloy rims to all of mine. (thinking of using some WM2 front 19" rims on 360 for a 'tracker')

OK yeah I know about you using the alloy rims, was just wondering where they were coming from, that's a possible fall project for me. Thing does fine the way it is, fast enough for me.

I was more worried by the stretched swingarm that I was by the oversized tire question. I hope someone is a qualified welded and understands how to stretch swingarms without them cracking in use. You do know that it will crack at the weld or at the slug. The question is when.

It can be done, but most are not done teh right way and are inherently dangerous.
