CB Engine Swap

Hey folks.

So I have a 73 CB750 and a 78 CB750 parts bike. My 73s motor is in rough shape, has some cracks and has been dropped, ect. The 78s motor is visually in better condition. I am wanting to rebuild and swap in the motor from the 78 into the 73 bike. From what I can see they look almost identical. I believe I remember reading something about maybe the sprockets not working together?

Anyone have any heads ups or tips?

I have verified that the 78s shaft that sprocket goes on is definitely different than the shaft on the 73 motor. As in the 78s looks shorter and doesn't stick out from motor as far. So I am assuming something must be done about this. Anyone ran into this before?
