CB turn signals in the way of clubman bars. Any ideas?

Today I decided to give my CB550 a shake and said "wakey wakey little buddy!"
I have a box of new parts for this riding season and one of them is new clubman handle bars.
These new bars have a much shallower angle than my old ones and when I tried to install them I quickly realised that my turn signals are in the way of the clutch and brake levers. See pic below..
The turn signals are from a 350 or 450 so they are already smaller than stock and come on shorter stems but I still have no room for the levers :-\

I can't go back to my old bars because they're bent and I don't want to ride without signals so I need to replace them with something smaller that will mount closer to the headlight.
I want to keep the classic round, orange/chrome look.
Any suggestions ?

I found a set of these on Ebay and the seller confirmed that they will only stick out 1 1/2'', that should give me enough clearance....

Yah, I'll check when I get home, but I think the original stem tapers off at the end so chopping it might not work...

Uh....turn signals......onna cafe? military intelligence.....airline food.......educational television......business ethics

Trimming the stems is not going to works...the diameter tapers quite a bit where the light mounts, so I can't cut from either end.

@Cheezer, can you explain what you mean? Mounting the signals directly on the headlight?

Might have to ride without signals for a couple of weeks and see how safe it feels...

With some aftermarket signals, you can use them as the bolts that hold your headlight bucket to the ears. Its a good solution as that's where the wiring connections are anyhow, so the wires go directly into the bucket and it keeps the signals up and out of the way.
