CB125 Build

That rear wheel is crazy but I think it works, especially given the current paint scheme. I'll be following along on this one.

Cool work, I'm sure someone will be along in a minute to talk about the dark art of spring rates and linkages :/

I did very little research into how to mount a monoshock. I did however buy a shock that does not use linkage. I think it's a replacement for a crf50 but with a stronger spring to handle a 200lb rider.

whether or not a shock uses linkage is not a big issue
you have way too much leverage on the shock the results being rear wheel travel suited for an mx bike( 10" + of wheel travel)_
also the swingarm will need some bracing
you really should have looked into proper design as what you have is a total fail it is painfully obvious you did zero research
you will be lucky if you can accelerate hard enough in traffic to keep up with a 50cc chinese scooter with that wheel

The only context anyone needs is that you didn't do any research on how to properly design a single shock suspension system, and you're lol'ing at the one "bro" kind enough to attempt to point you in a direction that won't get you killed.

And he's right, the maybe 11 hp that a 125 puts out is gonna be very tough to get that big ass rear tire rolling. Don't say nobody told you so.

Lol. I swear the armchair builders never cease to amaze me. Not one bit of knowledge has been shared here. And lol at people believing I'd build this thinking it would be anything but slow.

LOL@ thinking the sporty swingarm is some how better....when not used with two rear mounted shocks.

You don't get points for doing crappy work.
even less points when you did work without thinking.

Now you want to sit back on the web and complain that people point out how bad you are on the web? really?

What knowledge would you like to be bestowed onto you?
You didn't ask any questions and admit to just hacking way with this BS.....and when people did point out issues you curled in a ball and bitched......

Clearly you don't care about performance. You are just looking to play the hipster game of dress up with your bike.
Will be fine. Just finish your "build", roll it outside and take some artsy pictures. Pipeburn and the rest of the gang will lap it up.
Probably will be on ebay or Cl with to little miles to see if anything actually goes wrong.

No one will hold your hand to fix your pile.
Ask intelligent questions and take advice.

There are a few race bike builders, riders, engineers, fabricators, ect here to talk to.
Or just keep on doing what you are doing and hope for internet praise

Here's the advice.

Brace The Swingarm.

It was designed to have rear support on either side of the wheel, the rear shocks. The lack of that support will make the swingarm flex. That flex can/eventually will cause cracks and failures.

It doesn't matter that you are using it on a 125cc motorcycle.

Though sometimes gruff and angry sounding, the people here are actually trying to help.

As mentioned by the right honorable funkster above, not everyone on here went to diplomacy skool. However, there are two important factors at play:
1. Some of the members on here have got a lot of knowledge to share, and
2. You clearly have the engineering ability and individuality to pull off something outrageously different.

Why should everyone walk on eggshells around someone doing something stupid?

If you saw some kid holding a can of gas and playing with matches you wouldn't quietly walk up to talk to him about what might happen. You wouldn't worry about offending a delicate flower.....

Personally 99% of these "mono shock" builds are dumb.
Have yet to see a person do the proper math. Most don't even have a clue what that math would even be.
Zero performance reason.
Just monkeys copying the junk on pipeburn.
