cb125 idle trouble not running well carb problems

I have myself a 1975 CB125

When I first got it I couldnt get it to start with out the choke being on so I pulled the slide and the needle was set on the leanest setting.
I dropped the clip down each notch until I could get it idled low with out the choke.

Still after all that it was running terribly.

I pulled the carb and cleaned it again and figured out it is a 660a keihin used on the sl125 and not the 660b used on the stock 75 cb125. Pretty much the jetting is all the difference.
So I replaced 98 main with the needed 105 main.

Keep in mind I am running stock airbox and boot.

Also when i screw the air mixture screw in and out it doesnt make any difference. I can remove the screw entirely and the bike still sits at idle.
The second I give it any throttle the bike dies.
Also put on the compression gauge and have about 150 psi which is specd okay in the manual.

Im just trying to get this thing idling smooth and running good so I can ride already.

clean the pilot jet and idle circuit

I just soaked my carb overnight and blasted it out with compressed air this morning and the circuit was clean. (air traveled through it)

So hmmmmmmm I might have to take it off and try some more.

Also to note. where my air boot goes onto the carb the boot was slightly cracked but I put electrical tape around it then clamped it on so that shouldnt be leaking.

Is this on the airbox side or the engine side ? and the idle , pilot jet has to be removed , inspected and cleaned without destroying it by running wires or drills through it .

Nope, it just means air went through it

Should my idle circuit have a small hole in the plug on the bottom here. Would this be causing a problem in my idle?
The hole is super small barely can get a .011 gauge wire through it. I am not sure how the idle circuit is fed. Does it draw fuel from the main before the needle?

The hole is the jet, 0.011" sounds about right size for pilot
Problem is going to be all the internal drillings you can't clean properly
The brass balls are plugging up the drillings, aerosol carb cleaner blown through all the holes should help
Make sure you have the adjuster screw removed when you do it

Hmmm i dont see how it draws fuel though since its so high i will plug it temporarily and see if it helps or stops running at all.

connect a clear tube to bottom of float bowl and check fuel level through the drain screw

Is there anything in/on float bowl that could supply fuel?
I just hit control on keyboard and scroll on mouse, and, enlarged pic.
I think it was a conventional Kei-Hin pilot jet that's been broken off at end of thread there should be an 'extension' on it

Bingo bingo pj you got it right. Finally found a pic of the bottom of the carb and indeed the pilot is broke off. As a machinist I should be able to remove the old broken off one so we will see how this goes.

Without any pressure it should come out pretty easy, at least it's not in the bottom of a hole like 360 carbs ;)

Drilled it out and ran a tap through and I got it!

Pilot jet screws in nice. Now time to put her all back together and ride

Got the carb back on. Idles much better. Still having trouble getting it to idle lower though. Plus when I take it for a spin throttle isnt responding and when riding in 2nd the bike seems to surge a little. What could by causing this?

I will check those.

Plug is new and filter should be fine and I checked float height and that was good so timing might be it.
