CB125CR Build

The bike is looking good! I like the raw tank as well, but I can see how you may want the tank and seat to be the same color.

looks awesome! mine's all together and riding as we speak. i'll post some pics up soon. i'd kill for that center stand, the regular kick stand on mine sucks.

hay mbs.
i like the build, exh looks great. i do agree, even though i do like the tank like that, that it needs to be painted with the
seat. like that you have painted the exh tip, matches the bike.
like the mirrors, where did you get them??????? and how much did you pay for them????
i like the way you have done the seat cover, can you un botton and take some pics, i was torn on doing it but it looks like it is
easy to do.
i hope!!!
any way if you could help me with that it would be great.
looks great can't wait to see it done.
later.

Thanks for the comments. I got the mirrors on ebay. There are tons of them out there, I got these for around $24 and free shipping. Here is a similar auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cafe-Racer-Clubman-Handlebars-Barend-Bar-End-Mirrors_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1171Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem220374372968QQitemZ220374372968QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_1858wt_1122

or you can just do a search for bar end mirrors. I did not make this seat cover, but I have made one before. Its not as easy as you may think, at least I didn't think so. I will get some pics of the cover up as soon as I can for you. And I'll try to include some of the cover my wife and I made, which wasn't half bad the second time around with an old electric sewing machine. I bought this seat just the way you see it for $60 sipping included. I made the seat on my last build, so I thought it would splurge and buy one this time around. But only if it was a good deal because I am still on a budget. -MBS

I may have an extra center stand. I have to take a look, but if you want it its yours, just pay shipping. Looking froward to seeing your bike. -MBS

Thanks for the compliments on the bike. I am not sure about keeping the breather setup on it, plus I still need to put the battery somewhere. If it doesn't fit under the seat, it might have to go in the frame. No snow today, just rain. I'm not complaining!

Bike looks good...I was thinking about stripping the tank on my 125 raw too. I was riding the piss out of mine this weekend but I really need to start ripping into it. I was hoping to burn all the gas up before I took the tank off but this little bike is just not using gasoline...haha

Do your plans include side covers? Mine looks so ugly with that battery and all those wires just sticking out

the breather setup looks great, but may be overkill. The stock bike just has a black hose leading down between the swingarm and frame, with n o sort of oil catch can or anything.

I'd definitely pay ya for the center stand, then i could lose the stock footpegs and kick stand and fab up some kind of different pegs.

I think the seat is a little big for the bike. But overall, that is one kick-ass build! It looks so light light and fun to ride around. Makes me want to build one!

I can see how the seat looks big, but I think its got more to do with the fact that its grey (primer). I think if it were a color it would not look that big. Sitting on it its actually just room enough and it fits the frame really well. Either way its staying, it will look better when painted I am sure. I think I might also remove the breather set up and just run the filter. I don't have any side covers, without them the bike has a lighter look anyway. I have not setup the wiring yet, hopefully I will be able to conceal most of it. If you are planning on stripping your tank I have to warn you - Even after a good stripping and cleaning with mineral spirits, then an immediate coat of clear followed by four more coats with wet sanding in between, I still got some rusty finger prints that appeared long after the paint had cured. Really frustrating. Thats another reason I will paint it. But over all I want the tank and seat to match. -MBS

hey mbs.
thanks for the help, it would be great to see how it is made or at least an idea.
going to take a look at the mirrors aswell.
and i great buy on that seat, 60$ with the cover. thats awesome. going to get one for my next build..
any way thanks again.
later.
i'll be sending some pics for that new before and after pic book, when i'm done.

So how loud is it with the straight pipe on it?

I fired it up for the first time last Sunday. 3 kicks is all it takes. Have to watch out for that occasional kickback though - pow! I installed the battery with a custom battery box I made under the bump stop and installed a new condenser and finished the wiring except for the rear lights (pics to come soon). Once that was done, I hooked it up to the supply tool and fired her up. Let me tell you its freaking loud but sounds great! The wife doesn't want me to put in a baffle claiming "it sounds so cool and can't be louder than all the hogs on the road". She may have a point but I don't want a ticket either. I have not put a baffle in yet but will soon before road testing. -MBS

whats up mbs.
i did the same with mine, ran with the baffles out. it was very cool, for the first two to three hours but after awhile it was
just two loud. mind you mine is a 175, my friend could'nt even ride behind me and just barely in frt of me. sounds awesome
and i drove through brockville, where the cops are not kind to this noise, but they did'nt bug me at all.
any way get some pics up, like to see what colors you went with..
my friend and i are going on a 3 day road trip next week end, where going up to gatineau and tremblant area.
so we'll be up in the ottawa area for awhile before heading up there. if your around would love to see this little bike.
if you are around and want to go for a ride just get back to me..
later..

Hey thanks for the invite, but I won't be up that way until around Memorial Day weekend. I will definitely give you a heads up though when I do go. I haven't painted the cowl yet and think I am going to leave the tank as is. I night do some kind of stripe or something to ad a little color. Its been raining constantly so I have plenty of time to make up my mind. I will get to the pics soon, running around for Easter all this weekend. Enjoy the ride!!

sounds good, ya a nice stripe would look sweet.
i put two 1/4 inch stripes down the middle of the bike, instead of the full stripe or checkered one..i think it looks good.
i'll be posting some pics of it soon, its almost done. ordered some prts, cheep from wemoto.uk. and the seat needs the black
leather wrapped..
when is the cut off for the book your doing for the sight??????
i would like to get some pics in there, but need to get the seat done before..
and what is the site again, to send them?????
cool, talk to ya later.

any progress/updates on the build? how's she running?

mine ended up taking a dump, something's wrong with the carb and I lost my garage. it's just sitting now.

Dude, that is pure D awesome! I've got a badly crashed CB125S in the back of my blazer (no room left in the garage!) I want to do something with but need a frame & forks to get a roller. Mad props bro!

Hey Thanks for the compliments. I did manage to finish it like 2 days before I wrecked my other bike. I haven't been riding since, but I will test her out next season. She runs good and sounds nice, but still needs a baffle - pretty loud. I painted the seat cowl black and bought a new billet aluminum tail light and plate bracket made for Triumph. Got it around the corner at clubmanracing.com - He has his shop on the same block as my job. There is no love there for the jap racers though - not that I expected any. The light assembly cost about $45 but looks pretty sweet. Fit the cowl real well too.

kawasakifreak77 - I have some cb125s parts I may be willing to part with for the right motivation, send me a PM of what you need and I can tell you what I have, maybe we can work something out.

Here are some pics I took this past weekend after winterizing her.

The pocket bike is for my boys, but I admittedly have ridden it like one of those 3 world country folks as a joke about a year ago.

hahahahaha that is awesome! i hope your recovery is coming along man... glad to see the scoot where it is, looks great! i have always wanted one of those pocket bikes... not to sure why... just think they are cool... there is a little kid in our neighbor hood that rocks full racing suit, helmet and gloves, and RIPS on his... i tell you i bet it does 50mph easy! he will lift it and walk wheelies down the street and he is like 12 years old!!!
