CB160 Drive Chain?

So I'm curious if anyone might know how many links a stock CB160 drive chain should be... I bought a chain that is 428x104, but I'm not sure I got the proper length... Anyone know by chance?

That's fine. Shorten it to fit by grinding the pins down on the NEXT link along. We do it all the time. Or use a special chain breaker tool to push the pins out.

I just didn't know if it was actually long enough, or if I would need to buy a new chain that was long enough...
 
Ah. Good point. 428 is really short link. Parts book doesn't list the stock length, but I think you may be right that it needs to be closer to 116 or 118.

I can't get to either of ours to count pins, but if you have the old chain, count the pins starting at the split link.
 
Yeah...

it's odd, looking online, some places say that 104 is the correct length... others say 108 and even others say 110... so it's confusing... I do have the old chain that was on it when I pulled it out of the junk yard, but the chain was snapped, but from what i can tell, it looks it's all there because the snapped pieces line up... so I will count the pins and see if the chain I have matches that or not... if not, I will be exchanging...
