CB175 fame cutting

I'm going to cut the frame behind the rear shock tabs on my 175. I was wondering how close anyone else has cut thiers and if they noticed any flex or if they beefed it up? Pictures would be awesome, I really think I'd like to cut mine directly behind the shock mount. I already removed the inner fender so it is gone as well.

You can cut it right up to the welds on the shock mounts. well dont touch the welds obviously. Adding some brace is a good idea. Doesnt have to be anything too crazy. Just a piece of heavy wall tubing between the frame rails is fine. Weld it up strong and make sure it wont interfere with anything.

you dont want it too short... those 175s are tiny enough as it is! ;)

That's a bit of my worry, is making it too short and why I was hoping to pictures. If I was able to lower the front I would even move the shock mounts forward to lower it a bit, but I don't want it angled down in the back. Thanks for the response guys!

if you sit on it while its stock and find that your all the way forward on the seat, then you can cut off a nice amount off the back. if your at the end of the seat, you cant cut off anything without having to add it back later.

just measure it out and go by feel... just remember to add a rear hoop if you do decide to cut the back shorter.

in terms of suspension- you can lower the front by about an inch by sliding the forks up in the fork tubes... you can then lower the back by getting shorter shocks. the stock shocks are junk anyway- you might as well replace it. I truly dont see a point in dropping the bike lower unless if it is purely for looks or if your a short rider... the height of the bike is good from the factory.

The bike is already stripped down, but at barely 5'7 I'm not hanging off the back of it. I just don't recall how far forward I was.

The front forks can't be slid up as the fork top rests directly under the upper triple clamp and the fork oil fill bolts bolt in above that.
