Trying to figure out a way to get my kickstart to clear my rearsets. I've seen some bikes with the starter bent out for clearance, but I've heard that could snap the starter spline off. I bought a 350 kick start thinking that would solve my problem, but since I'm asking you guys this question it obviously hasn't. Any ideas?
Don't bend it installed on the bike. You will break the bike internals. Figure out where the bend needs to be and remove the kick start arm. Heating it will make it easier to bend. it needs to be red hot for that...
Some companies are getting wise and offering a right side lever with a folding toe peg, as well as folding footpegs. I'm currently trying to get through those on my build, as well. I hand fabbed my rearsets, so I'd have to custom make the folding toe peg as well, or bend the kick arm. Not sure which is more annoying to tackle.
I get that the kick start needs to be off the bike to bend. What I'm getting at is that I've heard the spline will snap if because of the torque on the kick start from being bent after the fact.
That is a problem with most cafe builds. You dont want to use the passenger pegs because they are too far back, and the front just arnt cool. So your stuck in the middle and if you plan to use your kicker, you have a problem. I used Yamaha R6 rearsets on mine which fold up.I removed the spring that forces the peg down so it will stay out of the way. I feel like I have seen fold up aftermarket rearsets but I cant remember where.
Tarozzi makes folding rear sets. You can also get the link pin as a clip style so if you need to you can pull it and let the brake lever drop out of the way(if thats also an issue). Several ways around this problem, you just gotta pick which makes the most sense for your bike.

This can be an issue on some bikes. However the cb200 takes next to no effort to kick over. I can start mine easily using my hand instead of my foot. So there isn't a lot of force put on the spline in the first place. I doubt it will cause an issue.
Don't bend the kick start lever on the motor.Take if off and bend it using oxy by heating the points that need bending to cherry red in a vise.Trying to bend it on the motor will only snap off the kick shaft shaft or crack the clutch cover.
I did! I'm a shmuck when it comes to these things. I just installed the kick starter 45 degrees toward the engine instead of perpendicular to the ground the way it was before. It still goes through its full range of motion, but now it stops above the rearsets instead of below them.
