CB200 Rear Shock Replacement

Keogan

CB200T, MB5
I have shocks that have lost their bounce on my 1975 cb200t, I called a local shock rebuild place and they said they couldn't help, so I figured dimecitycycles could help. All i've found to replace my 12" shocks are the 11" variety and the 13.2" variety. Both very reasonably priced. Any cb200 builders out there have advice?

hagon seens very nice but very expensive and foreign so shipping would be outrageous, coming to probably three times the cost of dimecity.

Where are you living? I've done a lot of business with dime :) Those guys are awsome! Can't go wrong with them!

I'm in New York, dime would be great but I don't know which to get, bigger or smaller? i looked at my clearance and I don't think I can sacrifice an inch.. but I'm worried the 13.2 may be too big.

I bought 13.2 from hagon and they are just fine :) but don't know about cb200. Shipping for Hagon to canad cost me 56$us so not bad I think... :) for hagon :p

you got 13.2 and they were originally 12"? if they fit fine then i'm going with the dime city 13.2ers

The 13.2 should be fine. The main worry will be whether your chain will clear the swing arm in the rear with that height difference. It should, but it's easy to tell. Just put the bike on it's center stand and undo the bottom shock bolts and measure off 13". If the chain isn't touching on the front, it will be just fine. The taller shocks will actually make the steering of your bike quicker....it will seem a little more responsive in the turns and what not which is a good thing. And it will give you the peace of mind if having brand new rears which is great. It will make your bike feel like a different ride. DCC are awesome man. Jason and Herm are the best. Hope this helps.

Yep original is 12 but they suggest 13.2 for my settup as a caferacer... you don't what the wheel to rub on the cowl. But thats for my setup, but custom springs but 13.2 would be fine... you don't have many other option... loosing an inch will have a big impact on your handling and wheel might rub. Raise the rear a little and the more you have weight on the front wheel the quicker you'll corner ;) = more fun for ya :D. Cb200 don't have much top speed so focus on setup for twisty road.

See you around.
