cb350 carb bowl gasket

Im rebuilding my carbs and I ordered a kit, it came with a gasket, but the gasket is too big for the carb bowl. I found a carb gasket kit on ebay that came with all the rubber pieces from the carb. I ordered two of these and just like the first kit the large rubber gasket is too big for the carb bowl. The circumference is about 4 to 5mm too big. Oddly enough this sized gasket fits perfectly into the other end of the carb where the diaphragm seats, however there is not supposed to be any gasket there as it would prevent the diaphragm from being seated.

So my question is, where can I find the proper sized gasket. Would a motorcycle shop sell universal gaskets and maybe have the right size? Or is there somewhere I can order the right part from?

edit:

so the gaskets that are coming with the kits look like this:

but the shape of the float bowl is more like this.

I assume you have the twin cylinder and you're getting kits for the CB350 four cylinder. Make certain it's for the cb350K or G series. Old Bike Barn doesn't do a good job of differentiating between the two. I think Honda only sold these gaskets in a set, part# 16010-344-305 (if yours is the twin).

Ok, this could be possible for the carb repair kits I got from OBB, but the ebay item I bought definitely was listed for the twin and was VERY specific about which carb it was for. Sure I could just be really unlucky and both OBB and the ebay seller screwed up my order, but that seems unlikely. And even so, the cb350four is still the same CC's so the carbs should be smaller, not bigger. Anyways, heres the ebay listing.

The only thing I can think of is that I may have carbs that belong to a different bike as this set didnt come installed on the bike, but in a box of extra parts. However that seems unlikely since they look exactly like the clymers diagram and all the jets and other various replacement parts from the cb350 kit fit right in.

bah, Im getting frustrated and getting really tempted to just whip out the cc ..

That's the right gasket set but not the right gasket. I've got a CB350 twin and was actually working on the carbs today. Displacement has nothing to do with carb size (the Amal 930 was used on dozens of different bikes) and carb size has no bearing on float bowl gasket size from one carb to the other. The carbs on the twin and four are a different style from each other as well.

What year is your bike?

OK, supposedly the fours (which are actually really common out here in San Francisco while being rare elsewhere) take the same gasket set as the twin. The round o-ring is probably just a stock size that may or may not fit (again, different carbs between the two).

As a side note, you can cut and glue gaskets to size. I used to do this all the time for oddball custom o-rings for customers (In college I worked at a very specialized hardware store). Clean cuts and super glue the ends. Scotch Super Glue is solvent free and resists gasoline. We had o-ring material in 3' lengths. There are a few carbs in the Milwaukee area running with my o-rings.

youre awesome :) 1 for the tip and 2 for the link. Im kinda tempted to just cut and clue, but then again 17.50 for 4 of them is a good price and they are made to fit. But Ill def file the cut and glue tip in my rolodex of tricks :)

Is there a specific brand rebuild kit that is 'the best'? When I search this topic online, there are varied replies. Many replies with gasket and jet size errors as well as extra parts that aren't needed. And if all the kits are just supplying an O-ring instead of a pentagonal gasket, can't I just pick up any local O-ring that'll seat properly and hold up to exposure to fuel?

ya, I have left over parts too. I just hope the jets are the right size, Maybe I need to look closer, but there didnt seem to be anything on the jets that said their size. Do I just need to measure them with my micrometer?
