basicly you are going to need to get your chain strait... that is your spacer mesurements, from there i am guessing you are going to us the brake post and rear brake from the GSXR as well so if you are using that wheel you should be fine, if not you are going to need to figure out how to get your brake to the caliper as well

Sorry, didnt mean to imply that I was using a GSXR wheel, I was just saying that alot of swingarms on different bikes aren't left/right semetrical, like my 2007 GSXR. The wheel that i have on there IS a Suzuki but I don't know exactly what year/model it came from.

I was going to try and center the tire in the frame instead of working off the chain.... I dunno, I gotta let my hand heal before I go do anything. Its starting to swell and is turning all kinds of awesome colors.

Oh yeah, and at work last week I spilled liquid nitrogen on my other hand.... The effect was quite suprising, no harm to me whatsoever.

WoW... What the .... ???

I think you'd need to submerge for there to be any lasting damage. Otherwise I'd think it would instantly boil off into gas when it hit the warmth of your hand.

Tim has the measure of it.

As soon as it touches you, it boils off. I felt the impact but that was it.

Okay....

I think I figured out the origin of the rear wheel. It APPEARS to be a 72-74 Suzuki GT550 rear wheel.

Problem is, I can't get measurements well enough on it to have any concept to start measuring for the spacers.

I like seeing the progress on your bike. Made me join up! I'll def be watching your progress, as I'm about 2 weeks from getting a 1972 cb350.

Nice to see you wrenching it out still. Hadn't dropped in a awhile. dig the progress.

Well, back from vacation.

Good news, my brother is now officially graduated medical school with a D.O. (M.D. with additional training).

Bad news is that I have to get alot done around the house before I can start working on the bike again.

Should be back wrenching soon.

Yay,

I get to work on it this weekend (accepting that I get a bunch of things from my "Honey-Do" list accomplished.

First off...

If anyone skilled in the CB-ish arts ever wanted to come over to have a wrench-fest, I have free beer and a charcaol grill that I love to use when company comes over :)

That is not a bribe whatsoever.

Anyways, recent pictures.

I was mocking up the bike for the rebuild. Marking the holes I need to drill holes in the handlebars, measuring my mocked up spacers, etc.

Enjoy.

Well,

I got the gas tank completely stripped today, also picked up a new old seat so I didn't have to mess up this one (really good shape for being so old) but where the plunger is was bent badly outward and it took me about 2 hours but I got it fairly straightened back out.

Also I think I am going to cut the hand controls a little and run the wires outside.... I just don't have the ability/resources to measure, mark, cut and run the wires internally, not atleast to do a proper job.

I'd show pictures but the lady has the camera visiting her family in Maryland this weekend, so imagine it in your minds.

Oh yeah, and a friend of mine here had a buddy machine spacers for me. yay!

Yes,

It has been THIS long since I have gotten to work on the bike.

But I mades good.

Got the necessaries all hooked back up. New exhaust, rebuilt carbs, new air intakes, etc

After numerous small problems (like not having the kill switch on, plugging in the points, and forgetting to turn the gas on), she RUNS.

Runs like a friggin champ.

Wish I run this well when I'm this old.

So far, have two small issues,

Firstly there seems to be a clacking/tapping coming from the right cylinder. I think it is the intake tappet valve but I have it adjusted as close as I can without the indicator marker point inwards (the shop manual says to rotate it up to half a turn out to make sure the indicator is pointed away from the cylinder).

Secondly, I am getting a bit of rich-i-tude on the right cylinder (possibly the same reason?) though both cylinders have the same jets, same plugs, same measurements on the points, etc. The only thing I can think of is the tappet valve measurement but I have two choices according to the manual, too little clearance and too much.

The left cylinder has a perfect looking plug.

Okay.

So I re adjusted the tappets, the ignition, the points, my attitude, and everything else....

And we have a video :)

Yes I know the gas-tank is just hanging on, yes I know everything else isn't attached. This was an experiment to see if the bike actually worked after all the crap we've done to it.

Something to note, in the video, particularly at the end, there is a loud tapping sound. Valves, or what?

Enjoy
