CB350 Hard Tailed Cafe

Dave--

I've got a GS1100 Engine just begging to be put in that frame. That'd make it a proper bike and really fill out your bike's theme: "Please God, I'm ready!"

Wow I dont generally laugh out loud when reading posts, but if I were drinking something it would be shooting out my nose.

C'mon guys. We all seem to agree that the bike is unsafe. Lets try to keep the comments directed towards that fact, and keep them from becoming personal.

The idea of a hard tail cafe hurts my head....mostly due to what a cafe should be....

but if you must make a bike that looks cool but doesnt actually work as a bike at least make it something thats not going to fall apart.

Its just bad for the hobby in general
saying that you dont ride is just a huge cop out

your bike... your property... you do what you want with it. that said, i don't understand doing all that work to never ride a bike. why have a bike if you're not going to ride it?

You think this guy is trolling us with these hardtail honda's?
Wasn't he the guy with the "ballbreaker" bike?

And if we are talking hardtail cafe's, aren't we closer to them being boardtracker inspired bikes?

A hardtail Cafe racer is an oxymoron. It's two terms that cannot co exist peacefully. A Cafe racer by definition is functional and a hard tail is not so much. More importantly this is a really bad example of focus on what looks cool without any real engineering input.

On smooth roads at low speeds that bike will probably be fine until it's sold or taken a little faster around a corner and cornering forces bend or break the swingarm and the bike lurches out of control. It's easy to call "Darwinism" but Dave clearly tried to brace the swingarm to stop it moving. Unfortunately it's not designed to take the forces that it will be subjected to and he wasn't to know that or how dangerous that bike is.

The real question is what he can do with it now.

If he wants that "look", he needs to engineer in a single shock rear end. If he wants it as a hard tail, it needs to be braced. His choice, but that bike should not be ridden as it is IMHO.

Exactly. My real concern is that on his website, theres a "for sale" section.

All it takes is one young kid, who doesnt know what hes getting into to buy it and take off at full throttle into a sharp bend and see ya later.

The idea of building bikes for show is silly to me, sure, but the real issue is that it is going to get ridden, Im sure, and by someone who has no clue whats going to happen.

Hell, for his own sake, I hope he never sells the bike. The lawsuits would certainly destroy him.
