CB350 Lithium Ion Battery?

Been Around the Block
Hey All!

I'm finally at the point where I'm confident my bike is ready for a battery upgrade (been sticking with $35 lead acid batteries until I can see them hold a charge over a few months). New wiring, and the Ricks Motorsports Hot Shot Charging System upgrade have solved all of my charging problems, now it's just time to clear out the cavity and put in an electronics tray.

The question is:
Does anybody have experience with a good battery for this? I'm looking to go as small as possible to keep the profile of the electronics tray minimal. The only real limitations are that it is a battery that will work with a voltage regulator that has a voltage set point of 14.5 volts.

Thanks all!

EarthX is my recommendation as well. It's also the only LI-ION variant battery we've been comfortable selling.

14.5V is cutting it close, though. I'd use a multimeter to test the actual voltage your battery is seeing.

14.4V or 14.3V would be better.

That's fine. You (hopefully) don't need to adjust it. You need to test it. It's extremely uncommon for an automotive regulator to actually regulate to an exact specification.

The 14.5 number is probably an upper limit in a test lab, not a real world value.

I prefer metal electronics trays, myself. They're sturdier and you can ground against them.

Check out Cognito Moto.

Sweet. I've seen them before and was super close to grabbing one, I just honestly couldn't tell if $70 was a reasonable price for them. Vetco has some aluminum boxes as well.
