CB350 never needs choke

Coast to Coast
I have a '72 CB350 and whenever I start it cold it never needs any choke at all. Matter of fact, when I close the choke (up position, correct?) it actually starts to die. Does anyone know what, if any, the problem could be. Just seems that I'd at least need the choke initially on a cold start.

Once I'm riding it the bike runs fine, though.

If it runs then what's the problem? Choke is for cold starting, if it is not cold your bike might not need it. Once summer hits and it averages 75 degrees at night I don't need it either.

Only real way to tell if you have a jetting issue is to check your spark plugs for proper burn.

generally not needing choke for cold starts indicates a rich running engine. However, that really depends on what "cold" is to you ;D

I've noticed now that summers here my 400f won't start with the choke. Where in the winter it was a necessity. Normal.

I'm in Ohio so I consider 30 to be cold. That said, I just assumed that even in moderate temperatures (been high 50s-low 60s lately) that the choke would still be needed until the bike warmed up.
