cb350 rags to riches

This is a 1968 build dated (69 titled ) Honda cb350 that i picked up from a buddy for $200 a few months ago.

This bike was ruff to say the least. It was left outside for years without spark plugs, and was completely full of water. I basically purchased it for the few usable parts and the tittled frame.

This was the first bike I had ever worked on and didn't really think to document it with pictures, so i as of now there are very few pics of the beginning stages. will follow up with as much progress as possible.

Wow! did you manage to save the cilinders and pistons? Great job, funky red looks good too. any plans on frame colour?

there was no saving the top end on this pile of crap. i got new pistons and rings and took it .50 over the stock bore size.

as for the frame and wheels i decided to go white (ghost bike)

i painted the frame with por 15 hardnose paint, i have used it on other projesct and it had worked really nice

the stock wheels i powder coated white

polished the hubs and bought some chepo ebay spokes. as im trying to put this thing together for as little money possible and still have it look cooler than the average pos cb350

you can see the white frame in the backround kinds of.. i need to get better pics of everything.

i have almost everything i need to finish the bike in the near future, i was slowly ordering parts over the past few months while working on some other bikes. i have a seat, clip ons, new tires, new shocks, rebuilt forks, new chain, and other crap. all i really need now are some carbs as mine were pretty bad and buying the parts to fix them doesnt really make a whole lot of sense,

and a few goodies that i received today.. nothing fancy some spitfires and Chinese ebay shocks, but they should good for now

and i dont know how any of you find the time to keep up on all these pics and updates, this shit is time consuming

I'm trying to decide a paint color for the tank and seat. Since I have a red engine I'm kinda stuck with red black and white as a color pallet. Any thoughts on tank ideas? Stripes? And Allready have black and white paint as well as a nice jug of clear. Was possibly thinking red tank

What about blue with a large red pinstripe separated by 2 smaller white pinstripes?

That tank as it is on the frame looks killer, and the red accents should work well and make it look sporty.

I hadn't even thought about blue.. That might be cool. I do want stripes. I might rattle can a few scenarios just to get some ideas goin and then strip and proper paint

so originally i was think a white everything.... then after i painted the frame and swing arm i thought white tank and seat would be over kill. today i did a little rattle can of the tank with a red stripe and i think im gonna just do it wall white with red racing stripes.. i dont have a pic of the rattle can job but i will post the tank and seat painted as soon as i get a little free time to bang it out.

heres a (shitty) pick of a shock mocked up. ill try to get better pics all around soon. i always forget when i at the shop

Hows the build going? Keeping an eye on this thread. I've got a '68 350 sitting in the drive waiting on a build.
