if your going to replace that cam i think that you want to look for an early type one CB350 cam. i think they were better. i know those motors made a few more HP then the latter ones.
ill did out mine monday or so and see if i can show a difference
Re: CB350 'Sly'... opening up the motor - cam trouble!
ya, d-bag won't ship to Canada... and annoyingly I can SEE the city he's in (port angeles) across the strait from where I live! unfortunately it's a $60 round trip on the ferry so that kills the savings!
Thanks for the kind words! So ya, I've been off riding around on one or another of my other bikes and although it's nothing to do with cafe's i also realize that
so...
i continued my mediocre racing career
and rode my street bike here
so it ended up looking like this
Now back to the 350 and i'll get pics shortly! so i finally gave up on the concept of using the SL engine... there are far more different components than common ones... if i had a complete SL motor that i could freshen up it would have worked, but after buying SL cases, a transmission, a crank and THEN discovering i needed different case covers, clutch, etc... i decided i could live with the CB with a blocked off starter lobe. so i'm about to start the rebuild of the CB motor. i have new pistons, an electronic ignition ( http://www.cb450ignition.com/Index350.htm ) so next step is punching it out and refinishing... sorry there's not more to report but hopefully i'll start getting some traction soon!
Re: CB350 'Sly'... summer holidays plus change of plan!
Was wondering what happened to this bike ??? some really neat tricks put into it. That looks like it was a wicked ride! Wish i owned a bike that wasn't 43 years old and could try that myself. What kind of track bike are you running??

it's a Suzuki SV650. second gen (ie, the fuel injected one). Butt ugly bike imho, but the local tracks had an SV Cup series so there were lots of bikes on the grid and there was, believe it or not, prize money! It was a spec class so no motor work allowed which kept it cheap... i won as much as $650 a year and i bet it only cost me 10 times that! hehe...
Re: CB350 'Sly'... summer holidays plus change of plan!
Just read your thread, and its very inspriational. Your build is very clean, like the tank too. I had a problem with the sproket spring clamp, I had to have someone help me and we put it on like a tire on a wheel. Its ridiclous because the spreaders were almost there but not quite. You know you can just file down the scratches on your covers? Cant wait to see this finished, and I noticed you posted exactly 350 times haha.

brake p0rn... i'm trying to get ramped up again after christmas but no real progrss other than i received my intake boots for my mikuni's and i've ordered a couple of NOS rockers to replace the worst of my existing ones. valves came out the other day and the inner springs are a little underlength but it's a discontinued item so i'm not sure what i'm going to do there yet...
well i guess the fuckers that bored my cylinders dislodged the sleeves and i didn't notice until i was putting the head on and it wouldn't sit down.
everything back on hold again until i can get a new barrel, punch it, blast it and paint it.
so if you're in the Victoria area do NOT use JB Precision.
