cb350 starter removal

I don't necessarily care about removing the starter itself (mainly because it's a street bike and getting rid of a few pounds isn't worth the dicking around to plug the hole), but I DO want to get rid of the solenoid, wires, and anything else that doesn't serve a purpose without the starter.

it looks like under the starter's large gauge wire boot I can just take the cable off the terminal, remove the whole cable and solenoid, and call it good. the red/yellow coming from the solenoid just goes to the starter button so that can be eliminated as well. but I'm not positive on what to do with the black since that feeds a lot of the remaining electrical components.

does the black just connect directly to the positive terminal of the battery?

Black should only be live with ignition switch turned on, DON'T CONNECT IT DIRECTLY TO BATTERY
Can't remember off hand what you need to jumper, I'll have to look at wiring diagram

wait... am I dumb? nothing happens with the black... it just gets taped off ...right?

the fused red comes from the battery to the ignition switch and from there the black feeds the lights/horn/ignition coils and also the solenoid when the starter button is pressed and the circuit is completed (grounded to the handlebars). so to me it would make sense to just tape off the black where it would go to the solenoid...

hey! all you electricians out there... am I getting this or no?

Yeah, you only need the RED wire to ignition switch connected to battery + (shown with 15A fuse in wiring diagram)
