ok, so after a few busy weekends I'm back with a bik update. Headlamp painted, right controls painted, grips are one, got the new knobbly tires on rims and I've got myself a roller!
Also, I went on German ebay and got a cheap old skool gas tank from an old Zündapp KS 80ccm. It's been in an accident but I like the classic design and the scratches so I'll leave it like that.
I've also cut out foam for the seat so now I just need to make a base and get a cover made. And then there's of course the 1000s of little things - new wiring, missing brake parts, etc. etc.
Here's some pics:
I'm going for the "city scrambler" look...
I like all the scratches and dings in the tank. dont want the bike to be too pretty 8)
Next up: seat, upholstry and license plate bracket...
that motor looks awesome! just awesome! i would clear the heck out of that tank to get the scratches under some clear to make it look like that is what you wanted. looking good man!
ya man... it is hard to fake ages of wear... best is to find a tank and burry it in there in clear... will give it some depth and also make it look like you WANTED that there and not an OOPS after you built the scoot!
so I finally got a friend with a van to help me move the CB350 bike out of the bicycle parking in the basement of my building and into the workshop. I needed a battery/electrics box like the one I made for the xs650 but all I could find was some old ventilation pipe in the dumpster.
But I thought that it had to be possible to get an even piece of metal out of it
and then bend it to a box shape
mounted the rectifier, regulator and on/off switch.
this is how it looks from the other side
and on the bike.
here's the foam cut out for the seat
so I can check out the riding position. Such a light bike, it feels like a moped! (I'm 6 feet 2)
So, I just need to wire it up and find a petcock for the zundapp tank and then I should be ready to see if will start...
sorry for the "dead" topic, but I've been busy riding my cafe racer and doing life stuff the last month
I hope that I can do some work on the seat this weekend though - other than that I havent done anything but the a new wiring harness. got lights and spark so that's fine. Just have to hook it up properly and put some mufflers on and I'm ready to start it up. Alos got an original Zündapp petcock shipped from Germany
The engine paint is engine enamel in "anthracite" color. I think it's Motip.
