i am rebuilding my cb350 motor and i want to know of some upgrades that will bring out the inner beast but be reliable and not to costly at the same time. any ideas?

Did you ever hear the phrase "Cheap, reliable, fast.........pick two."?

How much are you willing to spend? Some people won't spend $100, while others put a couple grand into a motor.

But there's the usual upgrades: Type 1 head, over bored pistons, Dyna coils, etc.

i could put $100 and call it done or dump a couple grand into it. i want to keep tuning, modernizing, and upgrading every paycheck. the motor is siezed up right now and about 40% takin apart. i just want to get a solid start on everything.

up grade the cam chain tensioner parts. There are some modern replacements that improve that...good for reliability.

If you're gonna bore it, might as well go a little bigger. I think the pistons go up 0.5mm at a time. Leave a little room for another bore down the road. Get matching rings and (maybe) higher compression pistons. The CB350 twin has a lot of potential but could be a big money pit.

Go here if you have too much $$ in your pocket and don't know where to put it: ;D

A few small upgrades that improve the overall riding experience would be a nice idea

But huge carbs and full race motors is stupid unless you are trying to race it.
Sorry to tell you but there is no inner beast in a CB350 for the road. Spend tons and tons of money to what? Get beat in a straight line buy a 500cc bike? Spend the money on upgrading the brakes and suspension

It's inner beast you say. Here's teh plan:

67.5mm WISECO pistons from M3 or THR or others
Aluminum liners - Nickel silicon carbide coated
Skimmed head
Ported head
CR31 carbs
Stainless Steel 5mm stem valves
Race valve springs and retainers
Hot street camshaft
CR transmission
Programmable ignition
Jemco street exhausts
Lightened and balanced crank with Carillo rods
Oil cooler
That will do to start. Use a street & Track cam and stay away from race cams. No need for Titanium valves on the street but you will want to increase the static compression ratio.

You will still be thrashed by almost any RZ350 or even an RD400 with their greater power, lighter weight and more responsive engines, but that's the price for starting with a small motor.

Call the guy that built this bike
Uch built bikes took first second and third in every race they entered at Mid O, and its a similar story at most races

Im sure he will build a motor to order, if I had to guess it would run about $7k
